Hey girls! I fell in love with a wedding dress that was way out of my budget. My mom offered to buy it for me, but I won't let her! It's just too much for one day, in my opinion. I hope I find something very similar for a lot less! Did any of you girls say no to the dress you loved because of price? Did you stick to your budget or did you find yourself spending more than intended?
Thank you girls for sharing your dress stories! I know that spending thousands on a dress for ONE day is crazy and I just can't let that happen. I have a few dress appointments so I hope to find a dress I love more. Wish me luck!!

Wedding dress price
My BM went yesterday to get their dresses and I browsed a little. The three dresses that I really liked ranged from $990-$2200! Hopefully I fall in love with the one closer to the $1000 mark lol

We went in with a budget of 3k and ended up going well over it - when you love something, you love it! I felt as though I was missing out on a lot of dresses when I was giving a budget. I picked out my dress when I walked in- and we ended up going over.

I went in with a budget of $2,000 and fell in love with a dress that cost less than half of that.

I gave myself a budget of $2,000 which I would like to include the alterations in that budget as well.
If i really like a dress that is $2,000 I wouldn't mind spending $2,000 as long as the alterations didn't go past $250-$500.
Tomorrow I'm going for the first time to try on dresses and ones that I have already picked out that I want to try on are all under $2,000. I believe the most expensive on is $1890.
Plus the place I'm going to in Jersey does not charge for alterations.

I am very cheap lol and since it seems like I already know two different styles that look amazing on me, I'm trying to try on those styles by other designers to see which has the best dress for the best price. But I'm also aiming to stay under 2,000 for everything. Also you can check out www.bestbridalprices.com, they're an authorized dealer and have a lot of great dresses. This Allure dress that i liked was about $300 cheaper on there. Also check out RK Bridal, I've heard they do price match if you find it somewhere else cheaper.

Hi! I was the trunk show also & fell in love with a dress at Macy's but its over my budget =( Who was your sales person? The woman i had told me that they weren't officially part of macy's and there was no discount. Then my friend overheard another sales woman give another bride the 20% off sale! I want to go back but to someone who will not try to rip me off

Alyssa was my bridal consultant at Macy's Bridal. She was so sweet and helpful. She offered me 15% off the gown I loved, it was from Demetrios platinum 2014 collection (not a sale item). I'd ask to see her. Good luck!

They've been calling me to come in - the brand for 20% off is Demetrios

FYI: I'm a FH
WTfizzle, ALTERATIONS!?!... This seems soooo obvious to me now, mustttt warnnnn the FW that Alterations can add a good chunk of change to the Gown... How much do these alterations generally go for?? (on average... I get it can vary)
Back to the question... I want to say she's spending a couple grand?... A friend of mine had a $3-5000 budget, but found the perfect one for less than a $1000... On T.V. that guy with the glasses found plenty of dresses in that 800-3000 range. Yess, I've watched an episode or 2, I am on this site after all (but it was while on vacation and nothing else was on, I promise.)
Go with a budget in mind, but an Open mind. To me, it's not about the name tag or whatever. Your gonna wear this gown ONCE and no one will know where it came from, ONLY how it looked on that one amazing day... Look Patiently... for a design you like and eventually one will POP and look amazing on you.
Any suggestions on Bridal Gown centers while I'm here?... FW just started the hunt.

Re: Wedding dress price
When we first walked into Macy's in Manhasset, where I eventually got my dress (just bought it today!), we had no idea what our budget was. We just wanted to look. My parents were generous enough to want to get it for me. There's a sale at Macy's this weekend, 15% off. It ended up being $2,300ish for the dress and veil.

Wedding dress price - Long Island Weddings
I went shopping once. I knew which dress I wanted but tried a few others to make sure. My parents paid for my dress and I felt bad making them spend a lot so luckily there was a trunk show and I got a small discount when I ordered my dress. It was still way over what I thought my parents wanted to spend but they loved the dress and refused to let me not get it. For my dress alone I paid 4300. I had to add alterations bustle veil head piece and shoulder wrap. All together i spent around 6800 but it was well worth it!!!! Good luck and follow what your gut tells you!
