Wedding Dress Prices

I know this may be a silly question, but has anyone haggled the price of their wedding dress? If so, can you give me some suggestions on how. I want to order my dress in the next couple of weeks. TIA

I bought during a trunk show and received 15% off this way.

if you know the style number and designer of your dress (some places will not give you this info until you give them money) go online and look for it cheaper.

My original dress choice i found at lillettes in baldwin and they wanted to charge be around $2000 plus probably around a few hundred on alterations so i got the style name online and called a place in Ohio and they were offering it to me for over $500 less. I would have had to find a place in NY to do alterations but thats not a big deal.

I ended up having nightmares about this dress and went to find another dress which i LOVE LOVE LOVE. and its only $800!!!!

I got 15% off because they were having a trunk show. So I didn't haggle then. But after my dress got blasted all over the place and printed for the wrong price in the paper, MUCH lower then what I paid, I tried to haggle then and get the printed price. They told me it was an estimate not the actual price.....whatever..... So did I haggle.... ummm yes and no. LOL
I guess I tried and it didn't work.

I went to RK Bridal and found my dress there for much cheaper than a lot of other places, but then went to a smaller place closer to my house and they gave me the same price! So I'm at least saving myself train fare going back and forth to the city.

I tried to haggle (well, my mom did) but Bridal Reflections didn't budge. However, I am having some work done to the dress and needed to order a little extra beaded organza from the manufacturer. That ITSELF was a few hundred dollars. So Bridal Reflections said they would include that alteration for free (but only that alteration).

Certain bridal salons will really try to work with you, though. Adrienne's in Islip was willing to negotiate. So was Pronovias in the city; it all depends. I'd recommend that you try to haggle as long as the dress isn't discounted already, there isn't a special promotion going on like a trunk sale, or if it's a sample or something.

i didn't haggle. the place i got my dress gave me lower than other places were offering. some places will match a price from another salon. so if you see it at one place get the price and see what another salon will give you. also something to keep in mind when you go to a salon, FIND OUT IF THEY HAVE A CAP ON ALTERATIONS. my sister ordered her dress at a different place than where she tried it on b/c they had a cap and the other place didn't.

I did my research for gowns online, and was very lucky when I saw the price tag on both gowns...there was no need to haggle

I paid in full up front and got a discount that way.

A friend of mine told me she haggled... and got some $ taken off.. but basically what she did was ask them to take off some of the beading etc to make it more affordable. I dont know how much of that is true but its what I was told.

I didnt haggle myself. I loved my dress and when my mom saw the price she was pleasently surprised (she thought I would spend a couple thousand) but it was $1200 (around there) so she just gave them the deposit.

A friend of mine paid in cash up front. Big risk but she got a great price on her Alvina Valenta.

I didnt haggle but did get the price reduced as I had seen my dress for $200 less at another store. They gave me the $200 off for being honest and nice about it.

I think I just got lucky...
On the website it said mine was between 2500-2900... but when I went to Fantasia...they told me 800!! Woo hoo! LOL

Re: Wedding Dress Prices

My dress was listed in the store I bought it from for $1400.... the lowest price I found was for $1350 inc alterations... I told the store this and they said alterations were separate so they couldn't include them but they did give the dress to me for $1350. I needed to order a custom petite length which was extra so it pretty much evened out.

Now BM dresses on the other hand, I talked them down from $210 to $155

Re: Wedding Dress Prices

The first place I went to, had awesome service, and the woman was great. They had the highest price for my gown.

The second place quoted me lower, but the service ******.

The third place had the lowest price, but their service was the worst!

So I went back to the first place, tried the gown on, and told her the other places I went. She asked how much the gown was and I told her.

She said let me see what I could do.....and she matched it!

My gown is a Maggie Sottero and it was only $990!!!! :jump
