So...i've been dragging my feet w/wedding planning the last few months...but i finally made an appointment to look at gowns in November.
I know (hope) i won't find a dress my 1st time; but i'm just wondering how to does it work? If i find a dress & love it and order it. Do i pay for it in full that day; or do you leave a deposit for them to place the order; and then pay the balance once it comes in??
I don't have the cash at the moment for the dress...that's why i've put off looking. But if it's a matter of putting a deposit and then paying the balance in a few months i can work with that to at least get the ball rolling.

Re: Wedding Dress Question
I got the first dress I tried on. I had to put down a 50% deposit - and the rest is once it's all done.

Re: Wedding Dress Question
when i went to David's Bridal to buy my dress I had to pay for the whole thing when I bought it. But I know other stores let you put down a deposit and then you can pay for the balance once its in

Re: Wedding Dress Question
Good Luck with the shopping!! I got the first dress I tried on (well after trying on another 15 different styles and countless hours of online searching) and I had the option of paying in full or leaving a deposit.
HTH!!! Have the best time!!!

Re: Wedding Dress Question
I put down $200 to hold the 15% off from the trunk show, and I will put 50% down when I order, and then the rest when I pick it up.

Re: Wedding Dress Question
You put a deposit down so they can go ahead and place the order (half of the total where I purchased) and the balance will be paid off once the dress/alterations are done

Re: Wedding Dress Question
I put deposit down, but they did not order until it was paid for in full... I secured the price by putting deposit and it was easier for me to pay each week after I got my paycheck...I paid it off in 1 month...

Re: Wedding Dress Question
You might find the one the first time you never know!!! If you fall in love and think thats it you would leave a deposit for them to order it. Some bridal shops ask for payment in full but they have layaway plans and things like that to help.
So excited for you!!!!

Re: Wedding Dress Question
I was dreading shopping for my wedding dress! But I went for the first time a few weeks ago and found my dress the same day! My mom put a 50% deposit down.

Re: Wedding Dress Question
aww yay!
dress shopping is so much fun
most places are 40-60% deposit
just a hint..ALWAYS ask if they will give you 15% trunk show pricing...even if there is no trunk show...if they dont, tell them you will wait until there is to buy
everytime i did this, the shops came down on price or i flat out asked if they could do better on price!
