I'm going wedding dress shopping this April for my wedding next April. I heard that it could take between 6 -10 months for a dress to come in, is this true????
My fear is, what if I fall madly in love with a dress this April that I'm not crazy about by next April....did anyone else have this fear or am I just a worry wart????
How soon did you go shopping and did you still love your dress or regret your choice...
thanks ladies...

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
I have the same fear. I went dress shopping about 3 times, and I went to about 7 stores and tried on a ton of dresses. I got to the point where I couldn't try on anymore, after the last one I tried on out stuck in my head. So I bought it in December for my November wedding. I am happy with my decision, although I always second guess myself.... on everything!! My advice would be to just try on as many as you can stand, this way you will know you made the right decision in the end.

I ordered my dress in Feb of 2010 and my dress just came in the beginning of December. So it took 10 mths. But I told them I was getting married the end of March.

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
I think I still love my dress!!!!!!
I ordered it in September for my June wedding, and I haven't heard peep on it yet! So I ordered 9 months out- they were telling me 8-10 months out, and since I am out of town, they thought I should order close to the 10 month mark to schedule fittings, etc.

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
I ordered my dress first week of Sept 2010. They told me it should be in by March/April of 2011, for my Oct 2011 wedding! Once I found my dress, which I fell in love with and absolutely adore, I just stopped looking!

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
I got my dress (first one I tried on) back in October. It should be here by March for my April wedding. They had to put in a rush order for it. I have no regrets or second thoughts at all!

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
i bought my dress early nov and wedding is in sept
i love love love my dress
but i def worry sometimes that I will fall out of love with it when sept rolls around or that ill stumble across something I love more, we'll see...I also happen to be a very indecisive person and put down payments on 4 gowns during this process so far !
i worry more that ill find something else more than worry that ill fall out of love with it...I love her so much! and I think when you find the one you will also love it so much and those fears will go away a lot!
def start looking now, you never know how long it will take you to say yes!

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
It does take that long unless you go to DB where they are a LOT faster.
Heed this advice, once you pick your gown STOP looking. That means don't go into any more bridal gown salons, don't even look at the gown pages in magazines!! when you pick your dress it's because you love it for a reason. Don't let second guessing make you crazy.
I went to a trunk show in February and was trying on gowns I saw one gown I loved and put a deposit on it. then I went back in August and tried on the same 3 dresses I had tried in February over and over and over. Then I finally went in August and ordered...you guessed it..the original dress! I wish I hadn't driven myself crazy in the process. I had at least narrowed it down to one designer, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
But don't second guess. if you love the gown, show it to mom, sis, MOH, just the closest people. If they also think it's great, it's the one. Sleep on it if you have to, but once you order it, that's THE ONE.
It would like continuing to date after getting engaged to FH...a recipe for disaster

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
I ordered my dress in the end of October for my end of May wedding. They said I really had to order it in two weeks when I had tried it on. I had been to lots of stores, was searching for months, tried on maybe 30 dresses? I even tried on one I loooved in a mag, but I just didn't like it on me. Now when I look at mags, I don't feel like there's another dress out there. I look to see similar styles! I'm sure I could find another dress I love. There's no ONE with anything. Just the one you love best. You just know when to stop looking, like when you found FH.

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
Yeah, it's funny, the dress that ended up being the one was not one I would have tried one had I seen it on a hanger, and I think it looks ugly in the magazine, but another girl had it on and I loved it and tried it, and then another girl saw me in it and loved it and tried it, and I tink 3 or 4 of us in a row ordered the same gown that day! LOL

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
i had the same concerns!!! i started looking in March 2010 and was told i needed to order by December. I had pictures of my top three choices and i would look at them daily. I narrowed it down to 2 dresses after a month or two of looking at the pics and than by end Nov i had my mind made up! maybe start looking now...

Re: Wedding Dress Questions
I went to look for a dress for my wedding last jan. Take your time and look around do not force yourself to settle. They didnt order my dress till the end July and it came in the beginning of Dec. There is no reason to rush and find a dress when if you order it super early its either going to stored at the Bridal Salon or your house till you start alterations.
