For girls who have their wedding dresses... How many dresses did you try on, and how many places did you go? I went to Rk last week and really liked a dress, its a tafetta though which I never pictured myself in but its so pretty, looks nice and goes with my overall wedding picture( if that makes sense). I went yesterday To Macys Bridal Salon of Manhasset on lunch and tried on 6 satin dresses( cause I always pictured myself in Satin) I liked 3 of them but kept thinking of the taffetta.... I dont want to fly around...should I look 1 or 2 more places? where? I dont want to fly around, but I want to rule out everything else in my head to be sure ya know. Does anyone really really jsut know OMG this is the dress for sure??? Or did you somehow narrow it down to be sure?? TIA

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping
I def KNEW my dress when it was like 1/2 way on my body. lol. It just felt like me.
I only went to 2 places- Village Bridal and Kleinfelds. I tried on about 6 dresses at Village and 3 at Kleinfelds. MY dress was the last one I put on and we ordered it that day.
But that is just me... I am generally a very indecisive person, so I don't like tons of options, so if you want to be sure about your decision, maybe go to 1 more place to make yourself feel better. And if you still keep thinking about the taffetta then maybe its THE Dress!
If you decide to go to another place--- I highly recommend Village Bridal. Although I didn't end up getting my dress there, they were soooo nice and I found that the dresses were very reasonably priced.
Good Luck!!!!

I tried on a bunch and went to a number of places ... Ended up with a dress I tried on my first day of shopping. I just couldnt forget it! So dont be afraid to try try try! Plus you have some time still. Why not wait until the new Spring 2011 dresses come out. They come out in early January.

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping
I say go with your gut...if you always thought you would wear satin don't push that feeling to the back burner...The first dress I said yes too was nothing that I expected to like...it was beautiful and I got caught up in the moment of being with my family and saying 'yes'....then I got home and it hit me that I really pictured myself in something way different. Needless to say I went back 2 weeks later and said yes to a dress that I had seen and kept going back to online.
Sometimes when you try on too many different styles you become overwhelmed...
What style were you going for? whats your theme?

I know my friend was saying today that if I'm going to fly around about anything it should be my dress! LOL. I mean for me it is prob going to be the most expensive dress I ever buy! If i go in January is it enough time?? Some ppl tell me i need to get it at least 9 mos in advance....but when i went to RK they told me 4 mos to order 2 mos for alterations.

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping
I went to three places. Helens in Commack, Wedding Center in Commack and Bridal Suite of Huntington. I had pick my dress at the wedding center, but I had to take my mom to see it. So we went to bridal suite of Huntington (they had the dress too). I went in knowing what dress i wanted. . .
WELL. . .
I ended up picking another dress. The original one was the 'safe' choice, and was a pretty standard wedding gown, but the woman put me in something else, i walked out of the dressing room in it and just felt prettier. And my sister (who loved the original dress too) just knew when i walked out in the new dress that it was the right one.
I tried on maybe 15-20 dresses. Probably around 5 at each store.
Don't stop until you find one that you love! If you keep thinking of the taffeta one. . . go try it on again!

No real theme but my colors are black and white with touches of fuschia/dark pinks...I picture clean and modern and elegant... Black bridesmaid dresses and skinny tuxes. Ok this is the dress I love ...I want dark pink shoes and a dark pink bo-k for myself so i think this dress completes the look especially since it has a front pick up

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping
I tired on about 6 or 7 on my first try here in DC. That lead me to a particular designer that I liked and one dress that was my favorite.
I went to B urton's and tried on like 4, and liked 1.
Then we went to P rincess as they sold the designer that I loved in DC, and tried on 2 there. I fell in love with the one I ordered!
But they were mean, so I called B urton's and ordered it through them!

Re: Wedding Dress Shopping
I only went to Priscilla of Boston and it was the 3rd dress I tried on there and I fell in love. It was everything I wanted so I figured why look anymore and confuse myself. I am a really indecisive person so it was nice to make it such an easy decision and have something accomplished! Dont prolong it anymore than you have to! Go with your heart!

I went to one place. The first dress I tried on, I knew it was it. I've never felt more beautiful and I knew FH would love it also. I was overwhelmed with emotion. I already knew that was my dress but ended up trying 3 other ones just for the fun of it. I ordered the dress that day.
