Hi ladies, I received an email today from David's Bridal that my dress is ready for pick up. When I ordered it I was told it would be here by July but it came extra early. And my wedding is in a little over a year. To those ladies who already have their dresses what are you doing to store and protect your wedding dress?
TIA!

Re: Wedding dress storage
My mother put mine in a garment bag and a big plastic bag and it's hidden in a dark closet away from sunlight. Hope that helps!

Re: Wedding dress storage
I plan on keeping mine in a garment bag in a storage closet I bought from walmart. I'm going to out it in the attic because that's the only place in the house I can hide it from everyone especially FH because he does not go up there.
When I told him my dress was ready for pick up he said you want me to come with you to pick it up

Just be careful it's away from moisture and sun exposure. My only concern with the attic is the temperature change as well... a constant temperature and humidity is best. Storing your dress in an attic or basement means that those conditions change to the extreme & could affect your dress.

So when you start your fittings, you have to go back with the dress? David won't hold your dress until you're ready to start your fittings? Like someone else mentioned keeping it in the attic for a year might not be the best thing

Re: Wedding dress storage
Could you store it in the garmet bag, in a box & under a bed? David's should already have it packaged for you for storage (I would imagine)

The attic in my house was converted into a room so I don't know if that would make a difference.

Yes when I have to do my fittings I have to bring the dress back to David's. They said that they do not hold dresses and I have 14 days from the time they notified me to pick it up.

Really? Well that sucks a little. That is really soon. I kinda wish my dress came in lol. At least all you have to do is go to the attic to get a peak at it
I'm not gonna see it til maybe 3 months before hand.

Re: Wedding dress storage
DB said the same thing about their BM dresses that we ordered for my friend's wedding. She was freaking out that we wouldn't have enough time and then we got it in two weeks (they told us 2 months).
I am just storing the BM dress in my closet, don't know where else to put it!
