Wedding Dress Under $500

Original post by eden

Hi, I'm on a budget here. I'm determined to stay under 25k for my wedding. FH and I decided that anything over 25k is too much for a one day affair. We wanna save up for our early retirement! :D

I am looking for a wedding dress or just a white dress (not fancy dancy sequins or lace, etc.) that's under 500 (with alterations).

Is this realistic? Does anyone know of a place that sells cheap wedding dresses/white dresses for a good price?

I've seen houseofbrides.com but am skeptical about getting it online w/o seeing the dress first.

I tried on my dress in a bridal salon and then bought it on bridesave
I ended up paying under $ 400. They have lots of styles and they take returns a rarity at any wedding dress retailer. Also i felt comfortable ordering because they have a physical store behind their site in texas

I agree! Look at David's Bridal. I got mine there as well, with the veil and bra for the dress for under $700 all together.

Does LI have the Filene's Basement wedding dress run? They do it in DC and they have a ton of designer dresses for only $250.

Not the one in LI, but the one on Union Square above the DSW did last year in March.

Try Charmet in Bayside (on Bell Blvd). They carry a wide range of prices, and I'm pretty sure they have dresses under $500. Alterations are included when you buy your dress there.

I bought my dress on bridesave.com for $380.00. I found the dress at a salon for $800-that is where I tried it on.

See if you can find a dress for your budget on bridesave.com and try it on at a salon somewhere.

I was also going to suggest Jessica McClintock, and also Dorothy Walsh in downtown Northport--she sometimes has great dresses for under $500.

I think you have 3 options:

1. J. Crew or something similar. I love the dresses they have. I have the dress that most people think of as a wedding dress in black and it is great. Faltering on almost any body type. I think it runs around $300 and it totally re wearable.

2. Ebay -- used dresses are very inexpensive.

3. A sample sale. Shops sell their sample dresses off and though they need to be cleaned there is nothing wrong with them.

Also: You can have my dress :)

It was a size 4/6 at the time of the wedding. It was pretty simple -- it just had a sash.

Good luck

You can also try http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com if you don't mind having a pre-owned dress. Good luck!

Re: Wedding Dress Under $500

My dress (by Venus Bridals) was $350.

Ebay has lots of dresses for under $500.

My other suggestion (because my budget for a dress was $500 also) is bridesmaid dresses. There are some really pretty ones out there that have lots of embroidery. Not all designers offer them in white or ivory because they know some brides will order them for their own dress. I seriously considered buying a bridesmaid dress for my wedding.

Look at the dresses on bridesave.com. That will give you an idea of how much dresses from certain designers cost.

When I was looking for dresses, Chadwicks.com had a couple of pretty dressses that might work also.
