Here's my dilemma. My parents are divorced....my mom remarried last year and my dad has a gf (who I'm not particularly fond of). 5 years ago when my mom was only dating my stepdad she walked out with my dad for the entrance at my sister's wedding because my sister felt very strongly that the parents should walk out together. Now for my wedding, my mother absolutely refuses to walk out at the reception with anyone else but her husband. I really feel very strongly about this because I want my parents to be introduced together as my parents. I really don't think this is a big deal. And I really don't want my dad being introduced with his gf :( She says she won't walk out at all unless she's with her current husband, so our only other option would be to not include parents for the reception entrance. Any suggestions? Anyone think I'm wrong on this one. What would you do? Thanks!

JMO, your mom should suck it up for 2 seconds... I would tell her that, in a nicer way of course!

Re: Wedding Entrance...Help!
Sorry, but I have to agree with you on this one....so I'm not really any help. My parents are divorced too. Neither have re-married, but both are dating. However, I am having them walk in together as my parents. I don't care what their issues between each other are......that has nothing to do with my wedding.
I have already told my parents that if they pi$$ me off that day, they're going home, lol. I don't care who's paying for the wedding. Part of that means walking in together.
Honestly, if your mother wants you happy, she'll do what you ask. I'd explain to her that you want her walking in with your dad or not at all. It doesn't mean they have to be introduced as Mr & Mrs, they will just be introduced as the parents of the bride.

I agree- Whatever issues your parents have had in the past should be pushed aside for all of 2 minutes to walk in together- it is your wedding and it doesn't seem like a lot to ask.
Hope it all works out for you.

this is a toughy. My parents are divorced, so I know this is sticky territory. I think it would be nice for them to walk in together, as well. And they can be introduced as parents of the bride and they can even use your mom's married name (if applicable). One other question? will you new step-dad and dad's gf be insulted if they aren't included (not like it really matters, but you may want to keep that in mind). It crossed my mind to have all 4 walk in and just really introduce your mom and dad, but this is kinda weird, even I have to say. HTH good luck!

Re: Wedding Entrance...Help!
could you announce both couplies all in one breath: 'Parents of the Bride: Mary Jones Smith (mom) escorted by Mr. Smith (stepdad or bf) and Tim Jones (dad) escorting Debbie Jones (stepmom). Your mom would technically get to be announced first and step out first, but only a slight step ahead of your dad, or even all 4 in a line.

My parents are divorced and are both remarried. I am going to just let them walk in with their spouses to save the drama!

Re: Wedding Entrance...Help!
I'm sorry for your situation. Maybe if you explain to your mom that it's not that people are introduced as a couple but it's more that they are both your parents. Married to each other or not, one is your mom and one is your dad. Maybe if you explain it like that to her, she'll understand it better. Otherwise, the only other option you have (besides not putting parents in and I'm SURE you don't want to do that) is to introduce your mom by herself and your dad by himself. The ONLY hope you have with that is that the 2 of them might decide last minute 'ok lets do this together'. People forget what they say they will or will not do that day of someone they loves wedding. You can also remind her, you did everything she asked for her wedding. She'll come around, don't stress about it. Good luck!

Re: Wedding Entrance...Help!
Offer to have them introduced with their last names so that its clear they are not married anymore....ex:
'And now the parents of the Bride...Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Doe!'

Re: Wedding Entrance...Help!
Are there any other relatives you want introduced? For example, you have each parent walk in with another relative...
Mother of the bride accompanied by the bride's Uncle... Father of the bride accompanying the bride's nephew...

I think they should definitely walk out together, they are the two people who created you, nobody else. Even though they are divorced they are still your two parents. Your wedding is about you, not them, your mom needs to stop being selfish and suck it up and think about you that day. This is the time to be bridezilla and insist that it be done your way. You shouldn't even have to be bothered worrying about this!

Re: Wedding Entrance...Help! Update/Vent
So I tried once again to have this conversation with my mother. Tried to express that I'm obviously not the only one who feels this way about my parents being introduced together. Turned into a huge blowout!! Don't think I've ever gotten so worked up in my life. She claims she won't do it because she won't disrespect her 'husband' that way. OMG So, I'm not introducing parents at the reception. I'm so upset about this, but she is being so unbelievably self-absorbed. She actually called me a Bridezilla.....and I am so far from it. This was the one thing I asked for.

Re: Wedding Entrance...Help!
how about having them come out solo - - mom first, then dad. that way you don't get involved with the new parners and they don't come out together either but you still are introducing your parents. she might not like coming out w/o an escort but she can't complain that you are having her come out w your father either. I had 2 MOH and 1 best man and we did each individually and that worked fine.
