Here's my dilemma. My parents are divorced....my mom remarried last year and my dad has a gf (who I'm not particularly fond of). 5 years ago when my mom was only dating my stepdad she walked out with my dad for the entrance at my sister's wedding because my sister felt very strongly that the parents should walk out together. Now for my wedding, my mother absolutely refuses to walk out at the reception with anyone else but her husband. I really feel very strongly about this because I want my parents to be introduced together as my parents. I really don't think this is a big deal. And I really don't want my dad being introduced with his gf :( She says she won't walk out at all unless she's with her current husband, so our only other option would be to not include parents for the reception entrance. Any suggestions? Anyone think I'm wrong on this one. What would you do? Thanks!

how about having them come out solo - - mom first, then dad. that way you don't get involved with the new parners and they don't come out together either but you still are introducing your parents. she might not like coming out w/o an escort but she can't complain that you are having her come out w your father either. I had 2 MOH and 1 best man and we did each individually and that worked fine.
I like this idea...maybe you can have their 'other half' waiting on the dance floor for them..They won't be making the entrance but both parent can still be introduced

You have all been so helpful and have wonderful ideas, but unfortunately there seems to be no other ways around it. Either they come out with their respective partners or they don't come out at all. I think it's extremely sad that she is doing this to me for my wedding day...I will never forget it. I'm not having parents introduced. Is this horrible?

It's not horrible. but it is sad that you have to deal with that. It's your day and you should do what you need to do for you and FH to be happy. with that said tho, remember that it is one day in you r life and you will have a lot more after that where your parents will still be involved and you don't want to make that time bad. so I hear that not introducing anyone is what you consider your best solution. Just ask yourself will that make dealings with your parents (mom) any harder after the wedding. Is she sorta OK that no one gets introduced?
maybe you could have the MC just say something like congrats to the parents while they are at the tables so there is some mention???? again don't forget about the future - - you don't want that to bite you, however unhappy you are about the co operation you're not getting. hth

Thank you so much for your kind words. This actually was my mother's solution so I guess she's OK with it, unfortunately I'm not. I guess I'm just hoping that she will come around. I like your idea though about the MC saying congratulations to the parents. At least we're not completely leaving them out then. Thanks so much!!

I'm so sorry you're going through this......but I'd be just as adamant about it as you are.
One day your mother will regret her decision........

I'm sooo sorry. That's really upsetting - hopefully she comes around when she thinks about it and sees how it's upsetting u. Are you close to your stepfather, maybe he can convince your mom? Good luck sweetie. Hope it works out.

I must say that I'm having my divorced parents walk in together as well. In fact, I want them in pictures together too! They are my parents and they can put their differences aside for a few hours on one of the biggest days of my life. It's not too much to ask for!
