I did white labels on my black envelopes. It looked nice. We even did a little damask design on the labels.

ETA: Personally, I've always found those stupid wedding etiquette rules to be ridiculous anyway. The etiquette police aren't going to come after you for putting some labels on envelopes!

i personally dont think its a bad idea...but i think older people do. When i mentioned to my mom about doing that she was shocked and thought it was a terrible idea! She then asked my aunts and grandmother who all thought they needed to be printed directly on the envelope or done by hand calligraphy.
We are now looking into inkspun.com

Can you handwrite them? Ask a friend for help?

I used clear labels on my eparty invites. Its an envelope people rip it open and throw it out. I dont think its a big deal

I'm going to go with my standard, but usually true, answer. I doubt anyone will even notice before they throw it in the trash. Save yourself the $ and do the labels.

i tried doing them individually in my printer but the envelopes are a weird size and no matter ho wmany different options i try, they don't line up well or come out at all. like all lopsided.
i know it would look nicer if they were handwritten but i can't justify spending the money on that and honestly people really will just throw this stuff away.

when I made a DIY invite sample, I was able to format the paper in word to a custom size....i went to format then document and Ithink a popup window came up and you can 'manage custom sizes' then just make the paper the size of your envelope and go from there....I'm trying to do it from memory bc on my work computer I have a diff version of word...

yes, i did his as well, but for some reason, the wording i need for the addresses does not come out in the center. no matter how many different sizes i put in in the custom area it always comes out lopsided

I really wanted to use labels but was informed it wasn't 'proper'. Maybe you can get a friend with nice handwriting to help you out or, I read on a blog once that a bride to be asked the high school's calligraphy club to help and she made a small donation to the club in return. hth!

Someone mentioned inkspun.com a few weeks ago. I am going to have them do mine because my envelopes are dark blue and it does not show up on the envelope when I print it myself.

I agree with the etiquette part...I personally dont follow it at all. IMO I wouold use clear labels and maybe some design if you want to use white.

It sounds like you've already made your decision, but I don't like labels for envelopes and could not do it. I'd enlist the help of someone with printing skills to help with the printer or get a friend with good handwriting and a nice fountain pen to hand write.
