wedding ettiquette

wedding ettiquette

most of my FH family lacks wedding ettiquette so I need some help on a specific situation.

I'm worried that some of FH family will bring more people to the wedding then who was invited

example: cousin and guest and on the response card they write out 4 for # of attending.

what is the proper thing to say to them when I call them to explain that only so and so and guest was invited-not the whole family?

any feedback would be appreciated

Hi Jess,

I would simply mention to your family that the amount of people you invited is the amount that your hall can accomodate. I had a room that could only have 120-150 people. There was no way I was inviting more than 150 for fear that they would come and it would be cramped.

Did you send your invitations out yet?

We had to deal with this too, I just told them that although we would love to have everyone join us, we could not, because a) the room was not big enough to hold more than we invited and B) we're trying to keep cost down because everything is very expensive, both of which were true. So far, everyone has understood.

Make your FH call them, or FMIL. hehehe.
Call them and thank them for responding for others, but explain that the invitation was only for them, and that it gets confusing when they rsvp for other people-that everyone who was invited has thier own response card-but that it was so thoughtful of them to help. It's a little flaky, but you let them save face.
