Wedding fashion war with the FH - help!

Wedding fashion war with the FH - help!

Ok - so FH and I went to Mens Warehouse yesterday and got the tuxes....so, yay...BUT.....
I brought a swatch of my dress, which is antique ivory, because I had been told that the FH should match his shirt to my dress so I don't look 'dirty' next to him. Well, the ivory shirt at MW is an icky yellow and both FH and I hated it. The MW attendant made me feel like its not a biggie at all if my FH is in stark white and that we don't need to match. And, FH hates ivory and loves the white. So, we went with a black tux with white on white shirt/vest/tie.

Now, I'm second guessing myself. My dress is antique ivory - not even close to white. I really want the FH to compromise with me - white shirt with ivory vest/tie, but he is insistant on white on white!! Do I continue this fight with him? Or just let him be happy looking 10 friggin shades lighter than me?? All the wedding sites I go to have conficting opinions - some say do the ivory vest/tie with white shirt so I don't look dingy - others adamantly say don't worry about it and ivory is not dirty white - its a different color and will look fine next to his white. AAHHH - what do I do???

Maybe look at different tux places. Maybe their ivory will be closer to your dress color and fh will like that.

You could maybe look into finding out the exact type and style of shirt that's supposed to be worn with the tux, and see if you can find it for purchase anywhere else so the color is closer. I agree that you don't want to look dirty next to your new husband standing on the altar!

I actually had the same problem with the color ivory at Mens Warehouse. I went with white...

I figure it cant be that big of a deal in pics. :) (At least I hope!)

My dress was champagne and my DH wore a white shirt. He wore a black vest though. We have pictures of him with just his shirt and vest on and the white shirt did not look bad against my dress. You can definitely tell they are two different colors and not that your dress is dirty. Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone. MW has 4 different shades of ivory for the vests/ties, so I convinced him to consider the ivory vest/tie with his white shirt. If he still decides to go with white/white (or if neither of the 4 ivories go well with my dress), then I'm just gonna let it be. I mean, if he really loves what he's wearing, I guess thats most important. I'll be sure to stick some ivory in his boutineer :)

This! I was told the same thing as you - that I shouldn't get white for FH because my dress is ivory.

My dress was a really unique color (layers of ivory and tea stained tulle/lace) and my DH wore a white shirt and black tux. I think we looked great together.

My dress was ivory and we went with a white shirt, black vest, and blue tie (he picked the tie and it matched NOTHING in the wedding, but he loved it, so I let it go lol).

Yeah..

The more i think about it, the less i think its a big deal. He said he'd consider an ivory tie/vest with the white shirt. If he doesnt like it and wants to go white/white, then so be it. My dress is a pretty deep colored ivory (with a kinda silvery sheen) that I don't think I'll look dingy....it will look like a completely different color, which I think is fine. Way more important things to worry over :)
