They all sound great. Go do some research and contact some people from the charities and see which one you would like to donate towards.
you can look through the top rated charites. I like this site because you know that most of the money donated to these charities goes to actually helping the cause (rather then into someone elses pocket)

You might also look into donating to one of the local hospitals pediatrics wards....I know there's one hospital thats mainly for kids on LI but I forget the name, that could be good too.

yes. My FH's mother died of cancer in 2003 so we are making a donation to the Susan G. Komen foundation in her name & leaving chocolates and notecards on our tables indicating so. She was involved with this charity until the day she died and FH & I race every year in nyc to raise money.
This way, we can involve her in our wedding.

I think it's a fantastic idea. Most of the time, people don't even care about the favors. For the simple fact that you are giving onto others is beautiful...
though i *did* go to a wedding this past october and they had candy apples as their favors & I thought that was so NEAT!!!

Re: wedding favors
I am not sure if we are going to donate or not or just give a favor...but I have 3 places I would like to donate too if Fh agrees to donating
1. S.I.D.S foundation- Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, cause my younger sister her twin (our brother) died when they were 2 months old from this
2. Autism foundation- cause I want to work with children with autism when I become a teacher. I love working with them and feel it so rewarding and they are such special children they are so adorable...lol and i feel $ donated might help for better services or treatment or something you know....
3. The Marine Corps...well because of FH and he is always saying how they do not get the funding they deserve compared to the Navy, Army and def Air Force so he would love to donate back to something that has a special meaning to him and has changed him into a better man
dont know yet though
