ok, so ive been thinking about wedding favors - just because ive been looking up engagement party favors.
so FH and i both love the rainforest.
do you think its a stupid or silly idea if we get tree seads as favors??? they come in a cute clear box, with moss and the sead is on top and then everyone will plant a tree. do you think guests will be like w t f am i going to do with this??
or a donation to the amazon rainforest- i think you can donate there.
i wanted something on the table though, and something plantable.

I don't think it's stupid at all to have a plantable gift!!!!!!! I think it's a wonderful idea! I'm all about small steps to save the world.
(Thus why my favors are foldable reusable grocery bags that say 'Saving the world, one bag at a time.')
Think of it this way: If you have 160 guests at your wedding and give them all plantable trees and even 1/4 of them actually do it, that's 40 more trees!!! 40 trees is a lot!
You could also do the tree seed favor and then also do a donation in honor of you and your FH and the wedding itself and include a little information about what group you've donated to.

My parents went to a wedding years ago where they gave out tree seeds as favors. My mother loved the idea. Granted, she didn't do it, because my mother's not a garden-type person, but she thought it was a great idea

I think the seed idea is so cute! I started looking around for flower seeds and found some great seed wedding favors at Sunflower Favors. They come with some cute sayings too. Anyways, that's another idea. Good luck with your wedding!

yea i think it might be too expensive since i started another thread about how much people are spending on favors and its not so much about the money per favor, but i dont think many people will acutally plant them- hence super waste of money. so i think FH and i might buy a few seeds and plant them ourselves, and make a recognition of this at the wedding. thats my idea for now anyway!!!

Perhaps you can include a little tag about the rainforests on it!

I think this is a cute idea. Honestly, not everyone is going to use them, but whatever you give not everyone will use. It's creative. I think you should attach a tag to the seeds and explain you and FH's commitment and passion for the rainforest to make it more personable.
