It's been a while since I've been to a wedding. We're invited to one at the Jericho Terrace on 2/24. What's appropriate these days? $250? $300? These people are the son and daughter-in-law of one of FH's best friends. We also went to their engagement party and gave them $100 GC from Bed Bath and Beyond.
I DON'T WANT TO BE CHEAP, but I'm getting married too and have to watch what I spend !!!!!!!!!

Re: Wedding $$ Gift
$250 is fine. We paid $125 a head for our wedding and we had a lot of couples give us $200 and we thought that was fine too. While it's nice to cover your plate, we chose to have some extras and didn't expect our guests to shell out for them. You should give at least $200.

I say $250- $300 should be fine.....
Since money is kinda tight due to your own wedding, I would say $250.

$250 is quite fine knowing you are in the process of planning your own wedding.

Re: Wedding $$ Gift
I give $250 as my standard gift, more if it's a close relative, etc..

I think 250 is fine. I also think that if you choose to have a very expensive wedding it doesn't mean that the guests shoud be obligated to shell out more money. Just my opinion. My FMIL said that most people will give what they can give regardless of where you have it.

Re: Wedding $$ Gift
since it's his best friend's son, I'd say $300.
My mom's best friend came solo (and we know that she was having a VERY hard time financially) she gave us $200.
DH's mom's best friend and her husband gave us $300 at the wedding, but $250 when we got engaged and another $100 for my shower (which the wife didn't even attend)
hope that helps!

Re: Wedding $$ Gift
The average that most people pay per plate is about $100. I'd say $200 -$250 is fine.

I agree with the majority, 250 is fine. Especially since you are planning a wedding, people do understand that!
