I think $250-275 is very nice to give. You also have another wedding to attend that same day as well and you have your own wedding in a few months. Don't feel bad at all!

yes - for me i would be more than happy with a $250 gift - but i know that this is NY and sometimes people 'expect' serious cash money for their wedding....i dont know how his cousin and his fiance are - i just want to give an appropriate gift - i dont want to skimp on them but we do have a lot going on this month and next month - i dont know if that kind of gift would come off as 'skimping' but we did just spend $100 on her shower gift as well...so i don't think i skimped on them for that....

Re: Wedding Gift
I think that's perfectly fine. We are going to Fh's cousin's wedding later in the month and we plan on giving $250. They know we're planning a wedding too and renovating our apt. Plus, I'm sure they'll just give us the $250 back at our wedding in August..so it's a wash anyway.

Re: Wedding Gift
I think it's extremely generous. And honestly, even if it was much less, people understand. I've given wedding gifts that were less than I wanted to, but then totally made up for it when I had more money with housewarming or baby gifts.

yeah i figure its going to be a wash with us as well i just dont want to give an insulting gift - I DO NOT think $250 is insulting but some people get weird when it comes to money - i dont think his family is like that but i wouldnt want to them to be insulted - i think its fine though, FH thinks its more than enough but he was basing the gift more on the type of wedding they are having and i told him that isnt how you should base your gift
