I think the biggest factors are the annual income and the relation to the person

it was a bit lower, but very close to the point and what ppl gave me more or less, btw

i think your right

I dont like the fact that it gives less for off season.

You think that's bad. We got $50 dollars...for 2 people..from someone that brought a guest. My pp was way over $100.

we got $50 for a couple too (and it was DH's family member). I think some of you will be surprised when you open your gifts.

Don't get me wrong we had a lot of people who were very generous. But there were a number of gifts we opened and were just surprised by the amount bc it was much lower than I would ever give at a wedding. We appreciate everything we got...I don't want to sound greedy or ungreatful. Just saying that I was surprised by some of the gifts.

yeah, the same with me too - we got $50 from a couple and $100 from another couple. but most of the ppl who gave us reall low amounts were from out of state, so i think they just dont know what the norm is for around here.

People from OOT also need to request days off (sometimes), travel to the event, and arrange for lodging - don't forget that The effort to come is pretty important!

Ive set my expectations low. Im figuring on average $100 per couple. That way if its more I'm surprise.
Most everyone was generous at my shower.

Two people surprised me and gave me items under $15.

Re: Wedding gift calculator

I think it's pretty much on the ball for NY weddings (give or take a bit) but way too high for non NY weddings. If you play around with it you'll see it barely adjusts the gift for location and we all know how much more expensive and elaborate NY weddings are from any other part of the country!

/QUOTE]

Def the annual income! I did my household income (me & FH) and then just me - it dropped $75!

It should also take into account the time of the wedding - when I changed it from from Fri to Sat it went up $25... and I wouldn't give $25 more for a Sat daytime wedding!

um. ***. my cheap *** cousin is getting married (shes old and its her second marriage) and it says i should give them $350. Meanwhile they are only paying $50 a plate, and they are both grown *** adults. So um, no.
I'm not cheap, but regardless.
