Wedding Gift Really Early?

Today I came home and to my surprise there was a package waiting for me. I received 2 fine china place settings. I was very excited but a bit confused because we have already gotten an engagement present from them and my bridal shower is not until at least may or june and I know they have not sent out invites yet Isn't this gift really early and out of the blue (not that I am complaining)? Just wondering if this has happened to others

of course! People want to get your their choice of gifts from the registry so that they don't get stuck buying the ugly leftovers.
