i have been getting so much mixed advice about this!!! yesterday we got our first wedding gift (i am sure it is a wedding gift because the same people sent a smaller shower gift separately). i was planning on using my shower gifts after we move in to our apartment, but before the wedding, and i guess i will use the wedding gift as well... so when do i send my thank yous? (for wedding gifts) now, or after the wedding? obviously shower thank yous go out right away. help!

From what I've seen and heard from others is that you should probably send thank yous as the gifts come. it's probably easier for you to keep track of if you do it now, rather than waiting until afterwards. HTH!
(i probably could just call and tell you these things, but it's more fun to write and get the posts! lol)

you know that is an excellent idea. do you think i could send one thank you now for both the shower gift and wedding gift? i guess it would be silly to send out two different thank yous for gifts received on the same day!

I was going to write before, that I couldn't remember what kind of thank you's you are getting. So that isn't the worst idea...send a joint thank you for the gifts now and then the more formal one later. because if you are getting picture thank yous, I'm sure those people would want one of them!!

i sent little note card TY's when i got gifts before the wedding, to show I got it and say 'hey we appreaciate it!'...i will send them an 'official' TY as well when i get them....i also found out SIL never got my first TY...so i guess it pays to send 2! haha

This is what I'm doing, so they know I received it - but then they'll also get an 'official' thank you afterwards.

I've been sending them out thank you's as I get them. It's a lot easier to keep track and it's one less thing or card you have to write out after the wedding!

Yes, I definitely did this.... wrote them as they came and it really helped me keep track. Also, setting up a Excel document or something so you can track who gave you what and whether or not you wrote a thank you really helps!!!
Also, sending it now rather than after the wedding lets them be ensured that you received their gift.
