My dress came in!! went to see it (its currently still there) I have decided to have the alterations done at the same place that I have purchased my gown from, however, ideally, when should alterations begin? My wedding is in May. I don't want to start too early..
my wedding is may 1st and i set alterations for march (1 fitting) and april (2 fittings). thats what they recommended to me!
I think it also depends on what you need to get altered. My dress just needs to be taken in and a bustle so my fittings are 1 month before and a week before my wedding. A friend of mine who is getting married 6 weeks after me is starting her alterations 2 months before me because she needs a hem. taken in, a french bustle. i would ask the place you got it from they should know when it the best time to start fittings based on what is needed to be done.
i have heard 2 mths before is a good time to start
