Wedding Gown Buying- I NEED Advice

Live in Nassau County. I want to buy a beautiful dress, don't want to spend a fortune, maybe under 2 grand would be nice. Want to go somewhere where they will be helpful and courteous and will do a good job. Hopefully nice selection. Any ideas of where that might be? Was thinking about going to Manhasset Bridal Salon or Macy's bridal salon. Worried Manhasset will be a fortune. Anywhere'd you guys go that you liked?

I just ordered my dress from Lidia's in Copaigue. HIGHLY recommend them. They were so nice and attentive and it's a really nice salon with very reasonable prices.

I went to the Wedding Salon in Manhasset also. They say there dresses start at $2,500 but I didn't see any for under $4500. Granted, I didn't look at all the dresses but the ones I liked were that price and up.

I have had friends that had great experiences with Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. I didn't but everyone has an 'off' day every now and then.

www.topbutton.com they list sample sales. My sister got a beautiful dress that was $5000 marked down to $500. It was sooo nice! It was by reva Mivasger (sp?) She got it at a bergdorf goodman sample sale.

I ordered mine at Charmet after I found it elsewhere and they beat the price and include alterations...so, their advice, and mine is to shop around and go to them!! :) Good luck!

I ordered my dress from Macy's Bridal Salon in Lake Grove in Smithhaven Mall. My dress came out to $1300. I did not think that was so bad.

As far as Macy's in Manhasset, my experience with them was not so great. All the women were snotty and made me feel like I was bothering them asking them for help.

Therefore, this is why I ordered it in the one in Smithhaven Mall.

I had a good experience trying on dresses at Macys, but I did not buy my gown there. I will be ordering from Phyllis at Bridal Elegance. I thought Macys had a good selection of nice quality gowns at all prices. Most I tried on were around $1200 going up to $2,000.

I went to the wedding salon of Manhasset. We were told the gowns started at $2000 and we were shown none under $2500 -- and they only showed up 4 dresses in that price range. It was a waste of time. Walking around, we saw no dresses under $4,500 -- and what they showed us for $2500 was poorer quality than the $1500 gowns I've seen elsewhere.

I think Lillette's in Baldwin has a great selection of gowns at $1000-1500 range. I'm going there tomorrow to try on gowns!

I was very unimpressed with people and selection at the Lynbrook Bridal Center, but they had extremely reasonable prices. I wouldn't recommend them if you are looking at gowns over $1,000 though!

I second Lidia's. They are great. They are so nice and not pusy. I am ordering my gown from there this weekend.

I went to the bridal world in Baldwin... They were really really nice and my FH and I decided that I could not spend more than $2500 HOWEVER....my dress, veil, necklace and earrings cost less than $1000!!!!!

I took my mom and a bridesmaid back to the store with me and they couldn't believe the price. The lady said the dress was one of a kind (her husband designed it) but my mom said that they said they are going to make more (dresses like mine) now and she told me don't tell anyone how much I paid so they will probably charge more for the dress now!!!

Overall though, they have nice reasonably priced dresses and they are very nice and helpful.... The most expensive dress I tried on was $1400..

Bridal Reflections in Carle Place and Massapequa has a nice selection too and they are very helpful.

I got my dress Kleinfelds of all places! If you are willing to go to the city I would say go for it! I got my dress for WAY less than what you were looking at and Lisa, the woman who helped me, was amazing!

I have a similar budget - I am heading to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa tomorrow, actually. Their website says that the Massapequa salon's dresses range between $1,500 to $6,000, and the Carle Place salon's range is $2,000 to $10,000.

A friend recently got her gown at Bridal World in Baldwin; she recommended it to me as well.

I've never been there, but there's also Princess Bridal in Farmingdale. A small shop, but their site says their range is $800 to $5,000.

I went to Charisol Bridal in Bayside on Bell Blvd. Tiffany was amazing to work with and has been so kind. I even order the BM dresses from there. They definitely have dresses between 1K - 2K. My dress from $1,200.

Best of Luck!

She found mine too! I ended up getting it in Carle Place because it's more convenient, but she was great.

Got my dress and veil at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. They give 10% off the veil if you buy your dress there. I was actually able to talk down the dress price also with them. And I'm going to pick up the dress this weekend...so excited
