My dress is in and they said I have to pay the balance on the dress the first time I come in to try it on... like, even if it's not a fitting.
this doesn't sound right to me, but maybe it's just me..
Thanks!

Re: Wedding gown payments?
Lillette's told me the same thing. They said the balance has to be paid before they even begin altering it. I guess they don't want to get it all dirty by having you try it on incase you back out bc then they can't sell it for full price.

Did that include the amount for alterations?
I mean.. I guess I see their point... but it just didn't sound right. As long as that's the way things go though, I guess that's ok..

Re: Wedding gown payments?
Yes,this is pretty much standard, my salon told me the same thing and most of my friends have told me their salons worked the same way when their dresses came in.

This is what I thought, too. I figured for some reason I'd make payments at each fitting and pay the final balance when I took the gown home, but apparently not.
Thanks ladies

Re: Wedding gown payments?
My Contract Says
'I understand that at the time of my all first fittings, the balance is due in full. Alterations are paid when i pick up the gown and MUST be paid in cash on Final Pick up'
So i guess i pay on the First Fitting.

Re: Wedding gown payments?
I have my 2nd and final fitting this Saturday - and my dress was paid for, in full, the day of my first fitting and that included alterations (if I remember correctly).
Either way I know the balance of the dress (pre-alterations) was def. paid the day of my first fitting.

Re: Wedding gown payments?
The way I understand it at my bridal salon is that you can go in and see it when it comes in and no money is due. When they begin fittings then a portion is due and then the rest is due the day you pick it up...I could be wrong though.

Macy's Manhasset told me the same thing, but I told them to feck off. I paid half the balance when I went to see it, and the remainder of the balance and half of the alterations at the first fitting

Re: Wedding gown payments?
I have to pay the balance on the dress when I go in to see it/for my first fitting. Then the alterations fee is due when I pick up the dress.
