Re: Wedding gown question

That is so sweet that your mom wants you to wear her gown and that you are going to! Do you have a picture of it??

I'm sure you could get the sleeves altered without it taking too much away from the dress.

Good Luck and Keep us posted!

Re: Wedding gown question

I have to say that normally i would've been so against wearing an old gown...but this gown is beautiful even after all these years. I guess i'll have to take a picture and post it.

I think that's great! I wish my mom saved her gown - with some alterations I would have worn it!!!

Definitely see if she'll let you change the style to your taste!

Re: Wedding gown question

It looks like you can definitely have the sleeves taken off and maybe even put back on after your wedding so then the dress can go back to its original style.

Re: Wedding gown question

Would she mind if you altered it? Take it to Madame Paulette's in NYC, and alter it. Maybe take off the sleeves for July....

I am not kidding, I think that's MY mom's dress!!! We just looked through her old album the other day and if it's not the same dress, it's damn near close

What year did your mom get married?

Re: Wedding gown question

The dress is beautiful! Why don't you have them make it into cap sleeves, so it doesn't alter the look too much, but it will be much more comfortable for a summer wedding. If anything, you could wear your mom's dress for the ceremony and then change into something more comfortable for the reception.

Re: Wedding gown question

That's really pretty! I think you can alter the sleeves and the dress would still be beautiful!

Re: Wedding gown question

I think the dress is really pretty and it you should be able to alter the sleeves, as long as it's cool with your mom

Re: Wedding gown question

How beautful to wear your Mom's wedding dress. Would she mind you altering it a bit? My Mom let my older sister and I get lots of wear out of hers when we were younger otherwise I wish I could have worn hers. I can't wait to see pictures of you in it!

wow, how exciting that it kept well through the years. And also that you liked it. I could imagine my daughter laughing at me

Yes, see if she minds altering it. And show us pics of you wearing it if you don't mind.

Re: Wedding gown question

If you take it to a good seamstress, she can probly remove the lace and rework it to make the gown more of your own.....
