Wedding gown question...

Wedding gown question...

Hi everyone! I was just wondering how far in advance should you get your wedding gown? The thing is, is that I'm here in North Carolina and have been to a few places, but I have yet to find THE dress. I like them, but nothing special. My wedding is in August 2002. I've basically run out of places down here to find a dress. The problem is that we're not planning to be on LI until January. I thought since I haven't found anything, I could look up there, but that would be about 7-8 months before the wedding. I heard it's not enough time. I don't know what to do. I don't want to settle on a dress. I haven't worn a dress since 1995, so I really want this one to feel beautiful. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance.

Wedding gown question...

I just ordered mine over the weekend, for my wedding on 10/5/02. The owner said it would take about 6-8 months for the dress to come in, but you also have to factor in time for fittings. I`m sure you could have rush delivery, but that would cost extra. Every bridal store I went to in Nassau county had a decent selection on gowns to try on. Even if they don`t fit well, it`s good enough to get an idea if you like the style.
The two stores I would recommend in Nassau are Elegant Bride in Albertson(where I ordered mine) and Bonaventure in Garden City. They`re both small boutiques, but have friendly service and a good enough selection that you will be able to try on different types of dresses.

Good luck!

You have time

I ordered my dress in february for a september wedding and the gown sat in storage from May until July - for my fist alterations fitting. You should be fine if you wait until January.

check with the store/manufacturer

I`m sure each manufacturer is different - once you find a store, ask them, then call the designer. They should be able to give you a good estimate.
