I went out yesterday for the first time to look for my wedding dress and I was so disappointed. I went to Macy's Bridal Salon in Lake Grove. The Demetrios line that I really want to try is in the new collection and Macy's won't have it until their next trunk show, which is at the end of Feb. I am so upset, I tried on some nice gowns yesterday, but not really the style I was looking for. I want a dress that is elegant, but not cumbersome. I want to be able to really dance at my reception and with all the material on the dresses I don't know how that is possible.
I am getting married 9/8/07, if I don't order a dress until late Feb do you think it'll be ready in time?

Re: Wedding grown dilema
I had a problem finding the gown I wanted too. It is Lazaro, so I called around all over and looked online to up coming trunk shows. The closest one I found was in NJ and that's where I went! It came in wrong (looong story) so now I have to keep trekking back to Jersey, but it'll be all good once I have it.
Try looking onling for Dem. trunk shows

I went their to try on a dress, wound up choosing another...and the woman there said that I was cutting it very close. My wedding is a week before yours. Meanwhile, I wasn't planning on ordering from Macys anyway (prices high...and service I didn't enjoy). I spoke to Phyllis at Bridal Elegance and she told me it would be in 5/31/07, and Mary at Bridal Suite of Centereach told me it would be there in about 3-4 months...she approximated it as Mid-May. So I think you are fine, but be sure to price your options before ordering. HTH

Re: Wedding grown dilema
You should be fine if you order the dress in Feb. I ordered my Demetrios gown in September and I just called the bridal salon yesterday to find out when it would be in and they said it should be here in 2 weeks! I think you should still look around at different dresses while you are waiting for the new line to come in though. Who knows, you may find a dress you love more. Also keep in mind that you can order a Demetrios gown from tons of different bridal salons (not just Macy's) - my only advice is make sure they put your wedding date one month before the actual date when they order it (especially if you order from Phyllis).

I think you will definitely have it in time, tell them your wedding is closer than it is!

I am 99% sure that if you order in Feb you would have enough time. Just make sure the salon moves up your wedding date on the order form.
It can be done!
I think it can be done as well. I would definitely lie about your wedding date though. I had a 5 month engagement, so I told my salon my wedding day was 2 weeks earlier, and so they thought they had less time to get it in. My dress came in within 1 month.

Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point carried Demetrios and a ton of other brands.
Not only that but they are really nice and accomodating at Fantasia too! Highly suggested. At least check them out and see if they have any Demetrios dresses that you like. Give them a call! 631-744-7200 Good Luck and don't be discouraged - you have plenty of time! I ordered my dress in September and it was in by December before I expected it!

Re: Wedding grown dilema
that is DEFINITELY enough time. I promise. If you still don't find what you are looking for by, say.......July, then go to Angelo Lambrou in Manhattan. He'll custom design you the dress of your dreams, with the best material in the world, and it will be thousands less than dresses in traditional bridal shops.

Thanks so much ladies! I feel a whole lot better about my dress dilemma. You all gave some really good advice. I'm sure it'll work out some how.

Re: Wedding grown dilema
You almost ALWAYS have enough time. The woman at my bridal shop told me that desigenrs look over their list of orders & make the dresses of those whose wedding is coming up first. So if you order it 12 months in advance, they'll start making in in the 9th month. If you order it 3 months in advance, they will make it right away.
Do NOT get discouraged. Also, I think you said you were looking for a simple dress.... try Paloma Blanca gowns. Thats' what I got & I love it,
