I just receive an email from DeSeversky mansion and I gotta admit that I'm actually liking the idea of having our wedding in a mansion. Have u ever been in one for a wedding? if so which one? and what r the prices?

i go to st johns in oakdale so ive seen the bourne mansion.....its really pretty but they have ridiculous site fees thats why i couldnt do that
if you go there, I don't think you have to pay the site fee. That or if you are an alumni
that fee isn't waived. even if you attend the school, you still have to pay.
the site fee is extreme...but it's a gorgeous venue.

Re: Wedding in a mansion?
I love the look and feel of a mansion. But many are small so make sure you know your numbers before you look at some. Also keep in mind that guests will be all over throughout the wedding and not always in one room at the same time.
But a mansion is exactly what I wanted for my wedding as well. Its great for pictures!
goodluck!

Re: Wedding in a mansion?
mansions are beautiful!
I looked at Woodlands, Royalton, Bourne, Vanderbilt
they are all over 100pp - some are alot closer to the 100 than others
bourne and vanderbilt do have site fees tho
FM if you want more info
and just a side note, I def do not think you need to add any additional money on decor for any of the places...esp the Bourne...I love love loved the Bourne, FH not so much...I totally would have booked there...theres so many rooms there for CH, you really feel like you're a guest at someones home. All the rooms are filled with antique looking items, and old library, artwork etc it's gorgeous!

We booked de seversky. I love the feel of having it in a mansion. it's so elegant and different from the usualy catering halls.
The prices are a little bit higher than some catering halls, and most usually have a site fee.
I'm worried that I might have to spend extra on decor though
I would think it's the total opposite. All the mansion style place I looked at were so beautiful on their own, that you don't need to go crazy with decor. We are using lots of candles, and putting up pictures on the mantles throughout the mansion. In the ballroom with are using lots of candles again, simple tall centerpieces and getting a mantle piece made for the fireplace which will match our centerpieces. Check into the ones you are interested in, you'll be surprised at how little you'll have to *** because they are gorgeous on their own!

DeSeversky was beautiful! It was too small for my party and it actually does dinner in one room and then dancing in another... not sure if you want that. I think doing the Mansion route is GREAT!

They have several different options for weddings. If you have more than 140 people you do a different style wedding (dancing in one room, dinner in the other)
If you have less than that, you can have a traditional wedding with dinner and dancing in the ballroom - that's what I'll be having.

Thanks! I agree with the other post. Mansions tend to decorate themselves. We used some uplighting but it wasn't necessary. It's a gorgeous venue and they do a wonderful job. If you have any questions on anything, feel free to FM me. Good Luck with your planning! Enjoy it!

Re: Wedding in a mansion?
I got married at the Royalton and needed no decoration and as far as an old feel to it, completly not except for the front of the house. Once inside, the ballroom was magnificant..hardwood floors beautiful drapery and doors, cocktail hour out on the patio and wedding in the Garden. We even spent the night there in the bridal suite...the food was to die for a total personalalized menu and wedding.
Cannot recommend it more.

I'm getting married at The Woodlands and there is just no comparison between a mansion and a catering hall! You have the whole space to yourself so you can really personalize it with photographs and other decor and attention isn't diverted from your affair by having 3 other brides running around.
I highly recommend it! I looked at De Seversky but it was just a little too small the number of guests we have so we went with the Woodlands and couldn't be happier!
Glen Cove Mansion is also another private space. Good luck!
I'm trying to google pics for The Woodlands but I can't really find any. What r their prices?
