Re: Wedding in Summer or Fall 2013
i would first make a list so you know about how many...then figure out dates...if you are doing a church ceremony, make sure you book your church just prior to your venue...in terms of venues, think about what kind of wedding you want...by the water, mansion style, golf course, known for food, bigger reception halls with multiple weddings vs smaller reception halls with a few weddings vs. one wedding at a time places...

Definitely nail down your guest list and budget pp first, then you can figure out which venues can accomodate. Then set up appointments to see RHs, once you see a few you'll get a feel for what you want.

agree- you need to nail down a guest list and budget first...then start looking at venues...there are a ton of princess-like venues in a variety of price ranges...many of the north shore long island mansions are gorgeous

AGREE with everyone! Do a guest list first...you may have more people or less people than you think...
THEN sit with your FH and decide a few possible wedding dates (early september or Late August etc.)...
THEN grab a LI Bride & Groom magazine and start narrowing down venues you want to look at...the time of year may determine if you can afford the venue or not...
Venue suggestions to check out (just to get you started):
Chateau Briand (just went to a wedding there...GOOD FOOD and BEAUTIFUL)
Westbury Manor (AMAZING)
The Sand Castle (I hear its very affordable)
Fox Hollow
Crest Hollow Country Club
Woodbury Country Club (Joe was really nice)
Thatched Cottage (made for smaller occassions)
NOT to overwhelm you...when you are ready...start making appointments...places look very different in person then they do in pictures...
GOOD LUCK....and remember....one thing at a time.

I would check out East Wind! Also, I bought my dress at David's Bridal. It was inexpensive and I love it. They have a lot of ballgowns there for you to try too. Good Luck!

try lombardi's on the bay. I believe they would be perfect for a wedding around 100ppl..amazing food too!! the great thing about them is they let you change the menu around to cut costs (they give SO much food so even if you take away a station or dinner choice to keep prices low guests won't even notice!)

Pick up the magazine 'Wedding Sites and Services'. It is a lifesaver! I marked off all the ones I liked, then gave it to my fiance and we narrowed it down to 10. Visited those, got prices and made our decision. The magazine is great it has pictures, sample menus, and pricing information and how many people it holds.

Also for dresses, go to Davids Bridal when they have their sales. I saw a dress I liked for $300. I didn't get it because it was not what I really truly wanted, but the price made it very attractive LOLWelcome New Vendors
