Wedding Invites, then Shower Invites??

Once again, so clueless!


So my wedding is on 10/23 and my sister and I were thinking that the most convenient time for my shower would be in August, since a lot of people can take off from work. (Yeah, I'm a little involved in my shower)

But my wedding invitations won't be mailed until the 2nd - 3rd week of August.

So we should NOT have the shower before people get the wedding invites, right? Or does it not matter? I mean, everyone who will be invited to the shower already knows we are getting married so it's not like the shower invite will break the news to them, but I don't want to be rude.

I thought the shower was first but you wont even know about it, because arent they a surprise??? Now I am clueless...

Pretty sure that the shower invite always comes first.

I think the rule is just making sure everyone invited to the shower is invited to the wedding..but they dont have to have the wedding invite first. It will just mean they will assume to be invited to the wedding as well.
