My mom just passed away on July 11th, and was buried on July 16th. My wedding is on July 23rd, I can't cancel my wedding because I well know that she would have wanted to see me get married.
WHAT DO I DO?? I'm sooo confused.
Do I play music, dance? I hired a DJ allready and photographer and videographer. Should I even continue with the wedding? What would you do if you were in my situation?

Re: Wedding issues
First:
I am so sorry for you and your family.
Second: Do what you feel you want to do right now. If you don't feel comfortable having a huge old party to celebrate your wedding - and you don't think you would enjoy it, then wait. You may lose a few bucks but that is okay. You can always re-book your vendors.
But...
If you are still kinda feeling into your wedding - then HAVE A PARTY!!!! Enjoy yourself just like you know your mom would have wanted you to! Have music - dance till your feet fall off! Smile, Laugh! Live and Love.
Do what YOU want to do. Having a good time is totally appropriate and everyone there will be supporting you 100%. I am sure they will no matter what you do.
Good luck and lots of blessings.

Re: Wedding issues
I am so sorry for your loss.....of course you have many mixed emotions about the wedding. However, know that your mother would want you to celebrate this very special event in your life...and please find comfort in knowing that she will be watching over you on that day - glowing with pride and happiness. Best of luck to you.

Re: Wedding issues
i am SOOO sorry to hear about your loss! I can't even imagine how you and your family feel. My thought and prayers go out to you all.
You have worked so har for this day and i know your mom would be so proud of you! Im sure she wants nothing more than your happiness.
I would still go on with the wedding...speak with your FH and your family and see what suggestions they have as to remembering and honoring your mother.
If you feel it is physically or mentally too straining for your family, then you do what you feel best. Your vendors will understand adni am sure they will be more than accomodating!!
Again, i am sincerely sorry about your mother and wish teh best for you all!!
If you need anything...you knwo we are ALL here for you!

Re: Wedding issues
First of all- i am so so sooooo sorry
i can't even begin to imagine how hard this must be for you. I know the biggest part of you probably feels like you shouldnt be celebrating after experiencing such a big loss, but the only thing that i've found that death teaches us (well, besides how to grieve) is to appreciate life and live it to its fullest. You know your mom would not want you to cancel it, and eventhough she wont be there physically, i truly believe that she will still be there in spirit- watching down on you as you start your new life with your husband.
Im really so sorry you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Wedding issues
I am very sorry for your loss.
I think at a moment like this you have to do what feels right. Don't worry about loosing $$$ or anything - and postponing a wedding - may still be a valid option and you won't loose any money.
On the other side, there is NOTHING wrong with you celebrating your new marriage and starting a new life together. If you think you may possibly enjoy it, and since you know that is what your mother wanted, I think you should go for it.

I am so sorry for your loss, especailly so close to your wedding day. I think you should do what feels right for you- I am sure she would want you to have the best day ever. So if that means postponing the party to later, so be it.

I am so sorry for your loss and the pain you are experiencing. I think you should do whatever you feel comfortable with, remembering that your mother wanted you to be happy so you can do no wrong, whatever you choose to do.

Re: Wedding issues
My deepest sympathy to you and yours. I know how difficult it is to lose a parent as I lost my dad last year. You have to do what feels right to you. All the vendors can be rescheduled and I am sure you deposits would be transferable. However, if you decide to go on with the wedding. Your mom is there with you and she is looking down on you and your new life with your husband and will always be by your side. You can also have the officiant mention words of remembrance for her.

Re: Wedding issues
I must say first that I am so sorry for the loss of someone so close to you. I know what you are going through and if you need to talk FM me. Secondly, I think your Mom would want you to go on with the wedding....I think you should do something special in her memory at church and the reception.....Just remember that it was her time and she wants you to be happy.

Re: Wedding issues
I'm so very sorry to hear this. I'm remembering you, your mother, and your family in my prayers.
I think she'd want you to go on with your wedding and be happy. Perhaps you can honor her during the ceremony? She will be celebrating with you in spirit.

Re: Wedding issues
My prayers are with you. My father passed away 21 years ago and I can still relate.
You still have a few days left. Listen to your heart. It will tell you what to do. I'm sure your family will understand either way you decide to go weather you decide to tone it down, or celebrate your marriage in combination with celebrating her life. Pray, trust in God and your heart will guide you as to what you should do.
Peace to you and your family.

Re: Wedding issues
I can only offer you hugs
If you don't feel like having the party, how about just getting married and have a ceremony and go out to dinner with the family. Have a bigger celerbration later when you feel more up to it.

I can't even find any words to say.
I don't know you but I am feeling for you right now. I am so sorry for you and your family.
DO what your Mom would have wanted you to do. MAke her proud. She would not want you to change your plans b/c God had his plan for her. She is smiling down on you at this very moment and will be doing the same on your wedding day.
