I am thinking about my wedding jewelry - I really don't want to spend a lot on it b/c we are already paying for the Rehearsal dinner (FH didnt' think his parents shoudl pay since they are paying for brunch for all their friends who are staying overnight - i disagree but whatever).
anyway, i saw some pretty earrings at target today and thought i'd buy them (i'm on a real target kick these days! got my rehearsal dinner dress there too for $22!) I'm just nervous that they will look too costumey (just aquamarine colored studs). What do you think?

Re: Wedding Jewelry: Real or Fake?
do you have a pic?
but it should be fine i think i'm going to wear some kind of either aquamarine earing or possibly a blue topaz
and buying real ones if your not going to wear them again would be a waste in my mind.

Re: Wedding Jewelry: Real or Fake?
i wore real. I never wear fake jewelry, so it would've been weird for me to wear it on my wedding day.
my earrings and bracelet were previous gifts from my then-FH, and my necklace (diamond/sapphire cross) was my wedding gift from him.

i will probably wear fake jewelry, if its brought from the right place and worn tastefully, no one will even know.

Re: Wedding Jewelry: Real or Fake?
I'm wearing my silver heart necklace that FH gave me for my birthday/Valentine's day since it's sentimental. It took a long time to find the earrings I was looking for, and believe it or not, I found them for under $7 in Afaze in a Brooklyn mall with FH. I was on a hunt for a bracelet and couldn't find anything I liked. My mom reminded me about the bracelet she gave me a few years ago, and it matches my hairpins beautifully, so I'm going to wear that.

I'm wearing fake. I'm not a big jewelry person and would really have no use for it after the wedding. Don't see the point in spending a lot of money when you can find real looking fake jewelry decently priced.

Re: Wedding Jewelry: Real or Fake?
i'd like to think i'd wear real jewelry and have it as a keepsake, but i keep falling in love with glitzy chandelier earrings, which i can't afford unless it's CZ.

Re: Wedding Jewelry: Real or Fake?
I wore a mix, I had custom stuff made out of metal and cat's eye and LOVE IT but I wear costume stuff since what I like is more vintage and I can't afford the real stuff IoI But I did wear a vintage ring of my great grandmother's on my other hand that was diamond and i forgot the other stone but it was blue.
Fake is fine

My bracelet is by Swarovski, my earrings are CZ and pearls. I knew I wouldn't get real diamonds, but I also didn't want rhinestones.

me too! The bracelet & earrings I wore for my wedding I have not worn again since that day. I knew this would happen so I didn't want to spend a ton of $ on them.

Re: Wedding Jewelry: Real or Fake?
Fake is a state of mind.
If it feels wrong to you, because you bought it for pennies and it doesn't come with a certificate, then don't wear it.
But if its pretty, it works, looks great and you bought it for a great price, whats the problem?
I'm probably going to wear crystal earrings on white gold hardware. My dress is full of crystals, I don't need much else.

Re: Wedding Jewelry: Real or Fake?
thanks girls! i ended up going to tri-county and buying a simple, white gold and white sapphire necklace. i don't have a picture, but it was affordable - may not be the greatest quality and everything but i think it's very pretty :) i originally wanted to wear diamonds but saw how expensive it was and didn't want to spend that much, even though i would have them for a lifetime, but it was just out of my budget considering everything else.
now i just need earrings and maybe a bracelet

Re: Wedding Jewelry: Real or Fake?
I haven't even looked yet but I am going to buy a pair of chandelier earrings and a cuff bracelet. Not sure if I want to wear a necklace yet. I dont want to spend crazy money on jewelry I probably won't wear again so it'll most likely be costume.

Re: Wedding Jewelry: Real or Fake?
I am very particular and I am not a fan of fake jewelry. When you have a Dad who is in the jewelry business, it's kind of hard to go fake. However, they copy stuff so well now. I went into Saks one day and stumbled upon a beautiful pair of chandilier earrings that were pretty cheap. Costume of course but beautiful. No one would ever know! I don't like fake stuff that looks fake BUT you can get away with fake stuff that looks really expensive. And, that is what I am going to do- as long as it looks good, I'll buy it. It's not like you will wear the bridal stuff again anyway so why throw your money away?
