Wedding last night.........REVIEW (JT brides, read!)
Ok girls, my first review to post.
FH and I went to a wedding last night at Jericho Terrace. Everything was GORGEOUS.
Let's see, where do I begin. Let's start with CH. I don't know the name of the room, but when you first walk in, you go up the stairs and it's the room on the left. BIG room. There was a huge selection, and the food was delicious. I had eggplant rolatini which was delicious. Even one of my friend's husbands said 'I don't even like eggplant, and this is really good!' I also had some of the fried calamari and fried artichokes....both were great. And I'm very picky about fried calamari because often it's too chewy. This was not at all.
Then we went into the dome room. It was absolutely beautiful. FH and I sat at the table next to the bride, as it was the table where all her BM's were sitting. FH and I are that close to the couple, but we agreed not to be in each other's BP because of planning the weddings at the same time. The white wine at the table was Santa Marina, which I've had before so I was happy with that. It looked like a pretty decent bar, but I didn't go up at all, because I was just drinking wine. But the BP did take some shots at one point in the night....I think of tequila.
Dinner started with a mozzarella & tomato in a pastry shell. It was interesting, different and very good. Then the pasta. Rigatoni with filetto di pomodoro (tomato sauce). Very good, just enough of a taste of pasta. Salad was next, just a basic green salad with balsamic. Then the main course. I had shrimp oreganata. It was butterflied shrimp with a little breading like a baked clam. It came with creamed spinach and a potato croquette. It was all DELICIOUS. I was very happy with my decision. FH ordered the steak. It was HUGE. He gave 1/4 of it to my friend's husband (he ordered chicken and wanted to taste the steak) and he still couldn't eat it all. FH is a BIG steak eater and he thought it was great! With the first bite, he turned to me and said 'OH WOW.' Finally, there was the cake. It was ok, nothing great though. It was yellow cake with a layer of whipped cream and then also a layer of chocolate mousse. It had a whipped cream outer. I actually did not finish my piece. BUT they did also give a canoli shell filled with ice cream. THAT was delicious!
Their dj was Body Rock and they did a great job. They kept people dancing all night.
The photographer was F I N E A R T, but I don't know if they used them as a videographer. All I know was the videographer was kind of annoying. He kept pushing people out of the way so he could get his shots in. At one point the bride's mother went to run up and dance with her daughter, and he held her back!
I don't know if the bride saw this, but she then went to pull her mother in, and then he tapped her on the back saying she could go. I just felt the photo/video people were a little too much in your face. I would prefer mine to almost be like phantoms....I don't want to realize they're there.
Favors - they did a donation to cancer. I actually didn't even realize it until I went and looked back at my pictures. There's a sign about a donation in lieu of favors on the placecard table. Didn't bother me at all, I wasn't there for the favor.
Oh one other thing that I (and I'm sure the bride) really liked - The bride, groom and BP got to JT just before the skies opened up and it started pouring. But midway through the night, when the rain stopped, the maitre'd grabbed the bride and groom and had them go outside so they could get their outdoor pics. I liked that they made a point to do that so she could get the pics she wanted.
There were only a couple things at the wedding last night that bothered me.
1- I guess I was up dancing when they cleared the table of the mozzarella dish. Well they never took mine away. I came back to the table, and they pushed my mozzarella dish to the side and put the pasta bowl down. I had eaten some of it, so it wasn't like it was untouched, but clearly I wasn't there finishing it.
2- When we finished off a bottle of wine, one of the other girls at my table asked for another. The waitress put a new one in the ice bucket and left the empty one on the table....right at my FH's place setting. IMO, it should've been taken away.
Ok I *think* that's it. All in all, it was a great time and I'm SO happy for my friend. I think the funniest part was when FH and I were saying goodbye to them at the end, she tells me 'I can't wait for yours!!!!!'
