Wedding Loans

Anyone taking out a loan to pay for the wedding? Any suggestions on where you can get a loan with not so great credit?

My FH and I are probably going to take out a loan for part of the wedding...I heard INGdirect.com is good...we are looking into Bethpage Federal Savings

I don't know if I would take out a loan for a wedding. But I went through Island Federal for my car and got a good deal.

Another thing to try is signing up for a credit card with a 0% introductory rate for the first year. That only works if you can charge expenses, but at least you won't be paying interest.

No, I wasn't aware that they gave out personal loans for weddings anymore. I thought now a days you needed an asset to back any loan. I'd go with whoever gives you the lowest rate and lowest fees or if you can, take out an interest fee CC.

We are not taking out a loan as we are paying for everything in cash.

I might be going out on a limb here but I would have to think that taking out a loan to pay for a wedding is NOT a good idea. I think that there is soooo much that you can do to keep costs down rather than put yourself into debt with a loan. 2014 is still a long way off and you really can save up a lot between now and then.

I totally agree with this, I definitely would not take a loan out, I would not want to go into debt for a wedding and would cut costs elsewhere. Eliminate some guests, don't do big flower centerpieces, get a lower cost dress, etc. You can't guarantee the money you get from your guests will even be enough to pay back that loan with interest, just something to think about. I agree with these ladies. Do your best to save and cut costs. I know it's hard. I tell FH all the time that I'm sick of living like we're poor - we're not! But it will be nice to know we don't owe anything after the big day. We've put a few things on a credit card, like the shuttle and bridal party gifts, but nothing big enough to take a loan out. ITA, I would not take out a loan. I thought it was important to live by our means. FYI I only got half back in gifts of what I spent on the wedding.

We are not taking out a loan either but we are cutting back on everything we possibly can. My dress wasn't that much, and I'm making my own centerpieces. I'm only doing a 1-3 stem bouquet for the bridesmaids which cut my cost ALOT. The only thing that I had to have was a videographer. I cut back everything else to fit it in our budget. I just feel like you can't guarantee what you will get back in gifts and I want to come out on top.

i agree with a lot of the others-i really wouldn't take out a loan for your wedding-especially since the odds of you recouping the costs are low

We have decided not to go with the loan... we are cutting back where we can and moving back in with my mom temporarily so we can really save a lot of $$... as much as we dont want to I know its a small price to pay to be able to save for my big day! Thanks for all your advice ladies!

ITA - if people cover your per plate in gifts, that's about half as you still paid for photo, video, etc etc

Ok so I'm not alone! Yeah it sucks we finally just moved out last year but LI is just sooo expensive and I literally cannot save! I jut say we are lucky enough that we actually have a place to go where we can save, and this way we can pay everything cash and hopefully not have to charge anything =)

I wouldn't take out a loan!! We are paying cash for everything, thats why we planned 2 years in advance and whatever we can't afford we just won't have. Right now, no videographer, I wanted a photo booth, but thats not in my budget either....
just try and keep everything low key and sacrifice!
