Where do you put the envelopes that your guests give you on the day of the wedding? I have seen some boxes or satin money pouches but I think that looks cheesy and tacky to walk around with. Do you people just hand them to you and you have to make sure not to lose them? Also, the receiving line...is it at the church or reception hall? And do you have to do one?
Thanks!!

Re: Wedding money gifts
your doc will usually help you out.. and most people will just walk up to the card box and put it in.. or maybe even your BM.. at our engagement party, many of our guests handed over the cards and cash gifts to my mom..

You can hold on to them,, people will had them to you starting at the cocktail hour if you go to that. But there are plenty of threads about card boxes if you do a search on this site. That goes near the Dias (sweetheart table). And as people hand them to you, you can put them in there. Fh also has a pocket in his pant or coat, if you need a few out of your hands to take a picture

I am not totally sure on this but I think you start to collect them and then your Matre d' (spelling?) takes them from you and puts them in the box or cage. Also sometimes people hand gifts to your father. Either way you'll probably hold a stack for a while till someone takes it from you. That's what i think happend

Re: Wedding money gifts
I had a satin bag that I left with my Dad to watch over. Whenever someone gave us a card, we put it in the bag, mostly towards the end of the reception. I now use it to store the wedding cards in.
I wouldn't hand over any envelopes to the Matire'D or to the Bridal Attendant. Better to have a BM or GM or one of your parents take that role.

We;re not doing a cardbox. My parents and even FH think it's tacky so we're going to just carry one of the satin bags with us. That might even be my 'soemthing old' b/c I am hoping my grandmother can find the one that my mom or one of my aunts used for their weddings.

You don't walk around with the cardbox or money bag. It stays on a table either right behind or right next to your table where you and your FH are sitting. People will just go up and drop in their card throughout the night on their own. Some people will give the envelopes directly to you, in that case, just drop them in the box/bag when you sit down again.

we're having a card cage for envelopes/gifts. Here's a pic. I ordered from saveoncrafts.com
Other people have a card box or bag for the envelopes. I would suggest you have someone responsible for this- to kind of watch over and make sure at the end of the night you collect (either a matre D or someone in your BP)

That is the same one we used and everyone LOVED it. Card boxes/cages seem to be the 'norm' these days every wedding I've been to in the past year or 2 has had one. We were concerned about it looking tacky too, but it's not a secret that people give you gifts, and you have to have somewhere to put them. Like i said, we got a lot of compliments on the bird cage. And to make it even better, it was CHEAP!

You wouldn't walk around with the bag either. Either leave it on your and FH's table or leave it at your parents table and people will drop the cards in at their leisure or give them to you and you go drop them in the bag.
