Does anyone have an opinion on what kind of music should be played at a daytime wedding reception at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden? There will be quite a few older couples there that are guests of my parents so I don't want to throw too much hip hop or heavy dance music at them. They are probably more comfortable with ballroom dancing probably, but my friends are not. I'm so stumped what to put on my playlist.
Our first dance will be a tango and we both love latin music, jazz, GOOD classical music, but at the same time like hip hop and house music. Is there anyway to combine it all to make it a seamless transition?
If anyone can recommend a good DJ or small band to play at my wedding I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,

Re: wedding music
just mix it up and play a large variety of stuff so everybody will be happy.
I had everything on my playlist, from doo-wop, rock, hip-hop, reggae, pop, house music, slow music, r&b. You dont want it to be all slow ballroom dancing but you dont want all hip-hop either.
I did my own playlist so i made sure there was a little something for everybody, even played international music
You'll be surprised but older guests danced to the house music and pop songs, even hip-hop just make sure its friendly hip hop for everybody lol. And younger guests danced to the doo-wop, slower songs too. You definitely can combine all of those, it doesnt have to be all one type of music.
Once you book a dj or band i think they will help you understand this better and make suggestions to you and you will explain to them what you want and they will make it work. Its their job to transition the music properly. I gave them all the songs i wanted and genre's and from there it was their job to know when to play it and how to transition from one style to another.
