Wedding Newbie!

Wedding Newbie!

Hi '08 Brides!!! A few of my friends have used LIWeddings and told me about the site when I got engaged last month at the Rockafeller Center Tree in the city!

I've since been reading about the site but this is my first actual post. I'm new to pretty much all things wedding but I'm learning fast with help from the site and all the magazines I subscribed to!

I'm thinking of an October 2008 wedding, I know that it's kind of soon but I would really love a beach wedding in the Hamptons and I think October is the perfect time of year. So, my question to all of you ( especially October brides) is, do you think 9 months is enough time to plan a wedding????

Thanks girls- and nice to meet you all!

WELCOME and CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement!

You definitely have enough time to plan an October wedding, but you have to start moving now! I would say the first big things you should knock off the list are the RH, the church (if you're planning to go that route), the photographer, the florist, and your dress. I had an October wedding and I didn't really do the bulk of my planning till around this time anyway. Good luck and happy planning!!!

Well, October 10th is actually the day I am hoping for, but not actually booked yet. We still have to pick a hall and the date will largely depend on whats available. I think the place I want has a few dates in October left. FH and I are going next weekend to look for the first time. How many places did you all look at before booking?

Thanks for the advice girls! Glad to hear it's doable.

Yep you have time...one thing I strongly suggest is to do a lot of research on your vendors. Under the green strip at the top of the page you can click search. Type in vendors you are interested in and scroll to Brides Review. I avoided many disasters by reading other peoples experiences. I am in the middle of one now because I didn't research earlier!

Good luck, welcome and congrats!
