So seriously, after partying all day and night and running around so much, how many of you ladies that already live with your future hubbies are going to a hotel for the wedding night? Is it worth it to get this gorgeous hotel suit pay $300 plus bucks to literraly sleep, something I could do at home? I was thinking to go back home, and sleep, and the following night to a bed and breakfast for 2 days....
My ceremony is at 5:30 and the reception is from 8pm to 1am.
Am I ruining tradition?
Anyone else going back home?

Re: Wedding night hotel...realistic!
my wedding is a little far off, but we rent, so i'm not about to make all sorts of noise before passing out when our bedroom is right above an 86 year old woman....we're thinking of staying at the Fox Hollow, but the Bridal Suite is like $370, a regular studio suite room which is very nice as well is like $190, so we're gonna do that I think

We rent too. But I will probably be too tired to make any noise aside from...'leave me alone and go to sleep'.....lol
After so many years together...sex will be the same that night as it can be any other night.....

Re: Wedding night hotel...realistic!
FH and I live out of state so it's really not the same for us, but we're staying at one of the hotels where we blocked rooms for OOT guests--they also gave us the deal that if we fill our block (which we definitely will) we get the suite for the regular room block price ($279 -> $139!) which is obviously big difference, so we're doing that.

if you have OOT guests you should talk to the coordinator. We are getting married in LI and I am staying in hotel bridal suite Friday night, FH and I will stay saturday night. We got 2 nights for less than the price of 1 due to how many rooms we blocked!

If you want to go home go home afterwards. i dont think it really makes a difference.
We stayed in a hotel b/c my ILs did, OOT guests did, some of the BP did....the only reason it worked this way was b/c the wedding was in Nassau and we all live in suffolk.
But if you are close to your home then go home. I dont think staying in a hotel is really a tradition, I just think its what people do-if I lived a short distance I KNOW I would have gone home, that is for sure
ETA: dont get your hopes up on doing the nasty afterwards, most people dont! Some will just push thru but seems like some are opting to NOT and do it instead in the morning when they wake up

Re: Wedding night hotel...realistic!
We are sleeping in our own bed the night of our wedding and leaving the next morning for our honeymoon.
We are having a day wedding so we are going to have some people back to our house after. It is just easier for us to stay home.

Re: Wedding night hotel...realistic!
I think staying at home may or may not be a good idea.
For me, it's not a real option. We live OOT and I would hate if my first night as man and wife (even if all we did was sleep because we'll be exhausted) was spent in FH's childhood bedroom (or mine!) in a twin bed.
Just something to think of: Will your place be neat? Will you have food for breakfast (and maybe food for afterwards, if you didn't have a chance to eat!)? Will you be relaxed when you wake up at home the next morning? Can you trust your family not to stop b y in the morning? Will you be able to relax with FH in the morning instead of dealing with the real world?
I know that if I was in town, my house would look like a hurricane hit it, the cats would be needy, and I would rather have a night away than deal with all of that.

we live above my future in laws ... and i think i'd feel depressed walking up the apartment stairs in a wedding dress..
it does not have to be an expensive suite.. we just staying at a regular local hotel, regular room less than $200

Re: Wedding night hotel...realistic!
Not quite sure what my FH and I are going to do. We're only moving in together this March. But my sister had a day wedding and an after party (almost comparable to the reception till midnight - lol) but her and her hubby did decide to go back to their apt ( they did own) mainly b/c it was close and wanted extra cash for their HM. Anyways my other sis and I arranged a good friend to go to their apt during the day of the wedding using a spare key we got from my parents. Our friend set up rose pedals, candles ( to be lit by my sis upon her arrival of course), champagne, flowers bouquet and a few other things. Obviously it was a surprise but maybe you can or any other bride with possible debates do something similar. My sis and her hubby loved it and it made thier same old place not so 'same old'. good luck.

we live in sc, so we have to stay in a hotel, but i think that it's a nice thing to do... i feel like its going to keep the excitement going!
we'll probably stay wherever our oot guests will stay. a lot of places will give you a free suite when you block rooms off.

we have a after party after the wedding and we are staying in the same hotel as our guests. If you have the money to blow on a $300 and up suite then go do it but realistically your only going to check in, maybe change, possibly be in the room enough time to do the deep if you don't pass out before hand and wake up a few hours later to leave. To me its only worth the price to pay to be with my guests.

Re: Wedding night hotel...realistic!
We already live together and figure why spend more$$ when we have a whole house. Most likely we will be so tired I want to be able to walk into my house stop, drop (the Dress) and roll (into bed).

We're staying at the hotel. FH and I will not live together until after the wedding. We debated going home but decided to stay at the hotel with our family and OOT guests. We'll have breakfast with them the next morning then go home before our mini-moon.

Re: Wedding night hotel...realistic!
we are definitely staying at the hotel. not only because it's so close but because I dont want to have to travel 40 mins home to brooklyn just to have to get up early and have breakfast with OOT guests.
plus the idea of being able to just go in the room and relax and not worry about the mail, phone msgs, the computers, etc. is worth the 300 bucks
