Wedding night hotel...realistic!

Original post by kat124

So seriously, after partying all day and night and running around so much, how many of you ladies that already live with your future hubbies are going to a hotel for the wedding night?
Is it worth it to get this gorgeous hotel suit pay $300 plus bucks to literraly sleep, something I could do at home?
I was thinking to go back home, and sleep, and the following night to a bed and breakfast for 2 days....

My ceremony is at 5:30 and the reception is from 8pm to 1am.

Am I ruining tradition?

Anyone else going back home?

We have been going back and forth with this for a few months but we've finally decided to stay at a hotel. I think it will give us both the night off from the dog too! lol We want to just go back to hotel and crash! It is 5 minutes from the hall which works out nicely and we got a bridal package through the Garden City Hotel, so I am looking forward to going back and having champagne and rehashing the night! Who am I kidding I will probably just pass out!

I want to stay at a hotel the night of just becuase its something different and to me that makes it special. but i think it really depends on a person's view because special to them may be sleeping in their own bed in their own house.

we'd lived together for years, our house was ten minutes from our RH and i had to take the SCPD test at 9am the next day...so we just went home...it was nice to come home...i don't feel like i missed out on anything.

we're staying at the hotel with our guests - i have some family coming in from CA and i want to get as much face time with them as possible - plus we live in bklyn so we're definitely not trekking back from Suffolk that night.

we live above my future in laws ...
and
i think i'd feel depressed walking up the apartment stairs in a wedding dress..

it does not have to be an expensive suite.. we just staying at a regular local hotel, regular room less than $200

LOL We live above my FIL's too.... I would love to spend our wedding night at a hotel. I don't want to have to come home!

I want to go home... i just dont want to spend the extra money and i rather sleep in my own bed. i HATE hotel beds, i know we will be much more comfortable in our own bed. I think the hotel idea is nice but just not for me.

Re: Wedding night hotel...realistic!

Ours was a daytime wedding, but my DH, in-laws and the best man stayed at the hotel the nite before. This way they were closer to the RH where we also had the ceremony, because everyone had to be there at 10am for pics.

The night of the wedding, some of our friends also stayed at the hotel, and other guests came back with us. We all hung out at the hotel bar for a little while, then about 10:00 we went up to our room and to sleep. Too tired to have 'fun' that night - I had been awake since 4 that morning.
We had brunch with our friends the next morning, and then my husband and I went to the cemetery (which was close by) to lay flowers on my mom's grave. After that we went home and packed for the HM.

If you want to go home after the wedding, that is your choice. You can do whatever you want. Location wise, the hotel worked out for us.

my wedding is a little far off, but we rent, so i'm not about to make all sorts of noise before passing out when our bedroom is right above an 86 year old woman....we're thinking of staying at the Fox Hollow, but the Bridal Suite is like $370, a regular studio suite room which is very nice as well is like $190, so we're gonna do that I think

The Bridal Suite is that much more??? WOW. I am getting a regular room for $229 with my AAA discount. The block rate is $219 but I am bot blocking there, since i don't know if any of our family will stay there. Get the regular room, the bridal suite just has a crystal lamp and rose petals on the bed in the shape of a heart. At 1AM do you need that???

I know exactly how you feel.

FH and I wanted to do the Romance package at the GCH but it was like $550!!!!

we couldnt justify spending all that money just to sleep

so we are staying in a regular room at the Hyatt (same place as the LIW bridal extravaganza) for $140 (with my AAA discount)

We're staying at the same hotel as our OOT guests.

FH and I have gotten a hotel room, only because we don't want to drive all the way back home after the wedding. I'm certain that some guests will linger to chat and its easier to just take a 2 minute drive to our hotel and sleep in. Our hotel room as a jacuzzi in the suite, so that's something we dont have at our apt!

I went home!

We pay a ton in rent and live alone. I couldn't see spending $300+ for a room and more for transportation to get there (we hitched a ride home with my parents lol) just because it was our wedding night. We spent 2 nights at home then the next 9 in a luxury hotel room for our honeymoon.

ETA: We only live 10 minutes from the RH- If we were further away it would've made more sense to get a room.

Re: Wedding night hotel...realistic!

We had a destination wedding so we had to, but when we planned the home wedding we were going to stay at a hotel, but changed our minds. I HATE sleeping anywhere other then my own bed so it wasn't going to be worth it I would have left in the night to go home I think it's a good idea, but everybody is different. If you have the money and you want to have a 'special' night ( meaning staying at a hotel) then do it, but if you want to be home then do that. It's a really personal thing. No matter what your weddig night will be perfect and special if you're in a hotel, your house, or a cardboard box. Trust me at the end of the night it won't matter
