wedding obsessed- RANT

wedding obsessed- RANT

So Ive been obsessed with all this wedding planning since my FH and I finally decided to do it. (Weve been engaged over a year and a half). The end of november I started looking at venues and we decided on a date this past december. As most of you, Im pretty much doing everything myself and my mom has come a few times to check stuff out with me. I feel pressured to decide on the major vendors, as I dont want to feel stuck with one because my date is booked.
Recently I feel like im getting a lot of resistance from my mother and others who should be excited about planning my wedding. Im being told just pick one, regarding everything. I know im picky and have a hard time deciding sometimes (im like that with everything) but I dont feel like Ive been that annoying. For instance I was on the phone today with my mom talking about bridesmaid dresses and she told me Im making a big deal of it and just pick one already. We only went ONCE to try on dresses with my girls. yes i have been forwarding her many pics but their off websites and its more to say you this style is nice. In her defense there were a few times we almost changed the wedding date and venue and the day after we picked out my dress I said I was unsure if I wanted it but I didnt change it.

I feel like I dont want to incorporate her anymore if shes gonna react like that but of course I want her opinion. and my sister (MOH) has no patience for any wedding planning. She never had a wedding and is not really detail oriented like I am. END RANT

Sorry for this and its ok if no one responds just had to put it out there

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Maybe start to pull away a little - I haven't personally dealt with this but I've found from being in other weddings that by asking the opinions of too many people sort of gives them a sense of entitlement in the decision making. If I were you I would stop asking what other people think for a little while and they'll probably come back around because they'll miss being included in everything.

I have found that I can't expect ANYONE to be excited with me when I want them to be. I was very upset when, after getting resistance from everyone for like 2.5 years, my MIL calls at the 6 month mark and says 'I just realized this wedding is coming soon'...ohh okay so NOW its time to start planning. I would go crazy if I let it get to me, but I really just can't. I have just realized that everyone has their own point of view, and just because I am excited doesn't mean they will be. In their own time.

Now sometimes I think they are upset that I have already planned everything and we don't get to have those great planning together bonding moments, but that is not my fault. So I let them get involved where they can and make the most of it.

Hey!First off I want to say... We are getting married the same day! YAY to us

ok I totally can relate and I just came down to the fact that i had to make decisions myself. In the beginning I thought she would be more inv. but my mom and I half the time would disagree anyway. But I just realized in the end its my wedding (our hehe) and its gonna be done the way we (I) feel.

You have your FH to discuss things with (thats who i turned to -(vented my frustrations to)) and I just went to a lot of bridal expos. Sometimes I even went by myself when i couldnt find someone to drag. But I have to say going to a bunch of expos really helped me decide on what and who I wanted. This site has been extremely helpful too. you just get a feeling when its right.

So now i have all my vendors booked and I am starting to feel like mom is coming around. I guess cause she sees things are booked and its really happening. So I feel like it will prob be the same to you. Wedding planning is overwhelming. just take your time it will all fall into place

Good Luck!
