Mr and Mrsxxxx regret that the invitation to the wedding of their daugher xxx on April 26 2003 must be recalled as the marriage will not take place
My DH opened the mail and was like yikes what happen? We are in total shock?
My question is is it rude for us to call and ask what happen?

Re: Wedding Off
are you close with these people? I think it depends on how strong your relationship is withthem to determine if you should call and ask or ont.

Re: Wedding Off
That is so sad. I would give it some time and depending on your closeness with the couple, you could call.

Re: Wedding Off
That's sad I'd only call if you're very close with the B or G.

Re: Wedding Off
We are not very very close with them. My husband and the guy were in the marines together. The guy is still in the military and FH stays in touch with all of them especially since the base is only a few minutes from where we live.
My husband called a friend of his to asked him for he is still on base to see if maybe he knows but he was not home.
We were wondering if we should call them to say we were sorry to hear the wedding was off or something. My husband just saw the guy not too long ago b/c he asked my husband if we had sent the response back and my husband told him yes. I do not know what could of happen since then.
This is so sad. I hope its not something like he fathered a child or something.

Re: Wedding Off
I say it's probably best to leave them be. If it was intended for you to know, you'd probably know already.
Of course, ask around to find out if you are really curious, but I wouldn't call them to inquire. I am sure they are hurting and want some privacy.
It might be nice if you sent a short note saying you are sorry but I wouldn't ask them why.

Re: Wedding Off
mayeb its b/c he is going to be shipped off by then?? or maybe it is a prob w/ their relationship...either way, you could always call to offer your best and offer if they need anything during this time, they cna count on either of you...

Re: Wedding Off
That was our first thought, that he was about to be shipped off somewhere so DH was about to call him. Then he asked me if it was appropriate for him to call?
I had no clue so I said let me ask the girls on here.

Re: Wedding Off
my thought on calling anyone is if you want to, do it - even if you aren't all that close he might need someone right now....and maybe his closer friends aren't there for him....as long as you don't try to pry and you just let him know you care aout him and hope he is ok, and that you are both there for him, he should appreciate it.....the worst case scenario is that he won't want to talk about it - but he might still be grateful someone reached out!)
when my fh's mom passed away people came out of the woodwork (i mean, we hadn't seen them in years and they flew in from all over, drove out, etc.) and that meant so much to us - those who weren't as close to us became closer and they all really helped - i know its not the same situation but on the large scale, it kinda is.....

Re: Wedding Off
I hate hearing things like this
If your husband is a friend and he wants to call then he should. If the guy doesn't feel like talking I'm sure he'll let him know. It is nice to feel the love and suport at hard times.

Re: Wedding Off
AS much as I would want to, I would not call. Just by you asking this question tells me that you are not that close to the couple otherwise you would know the reason.
I am really sorry to hear this.

Re: Wedding Off
That's a difficult one Neva. I don't know how I would deal with something like that -- I guess it would depend on the relationship. Sorry
I think if it happened to me...I wouldn't want people calling...but if I got that letter...I would be so curious...I would call around to others that were invited...what about an email

Re: Wedding Off
I wouldn't call them to ask why. Let things cool off and settle down. You will find out soon enough. I think it would be a little rude if you called. I'm sure they will be getting more than enough calls from people anyway. I know I wouldn't want to explain myself if this happened to me.
If it were something minor, and they were postponing the wedding, I think the note would have said it was postponed. But it said it would 'not be taking place.' I would let it go for now.

Re: Wedding Off
i agree with the other posters. it could be quite embarassing and maybe painful to have to explain what happened. i'd wait to hear through the grapevine as to the details. if your dh bumps into him then i think it would be ok to say 'i'm sorry your plans changed' and see the response and go from there.

Re: Wedding Off
I agree with pschia, maybe he is going into the War. I would have your FH called and express his concern and ask about him being deployed and then gradually bring the conversation to the wedding.
