Wedding on jewish holiday

Jewish brides,

I need help. My wedding date is April 8, 2007 (Jewish holiday). I need a rabby or cantor who will perform a ceremony on that day.

Please help.

I'm not Jewish, but good luck...we had friends who went through 3 rabbis b/c of the same issue.

I just checked the calendar, and the only thing about that day is that it's during Passover. There are a couple of things that you might want to consider -

1. You might have some luck with a Reform rabbi, as it's only during a festival, not the actual Feast Day.

2. Getting married that day is extremely inconsiderate to any Jewish guests you may have. Passover has LOADS of dietary restrictions. Even if you weren't worried about people who keep Kosher, many Jews will not break the Passover laws. This means that those guests will not be able to eat at your wedding.

3. It is technically against Jewish law to get married during the time period between the first day of Passover and Shavuot (40 days). As much as I always wanted a May wedding, even though I'm reform I chose a different date to accomodate my more religious guests.

In general, Jewish weddings are not allowed on holidays. The first 2 and last 2 days of passover are Yom Tov days (full holidays).

While your date doesnt fall on a holy day, you may have a difficult time finding someone to do your ceremony.

Also, what about food for your reception? You cant serve any bread products.
