Wedding Party

Wedding Party

Hi ladies! I need some help here. My FH and I are having 5 people (each) in our wedding party. Most of my friends are males so most of my bridesmaids are relatives/future relatives. He has all friends in his. My problem is that I will be asking his sister to be in the wedding party (we are not that close) and he is not asking my brother. I am a little hurt by the fact that he is not asking my brother. I spoke to him about this and he said that he can add him, but he's not taking one of his friends out of the wedding party. I really don't want to be asking friends that I only hang out with two or three times a year to be a 6th bridesmaid...and 5 and 6 just looks uneven to me. So my question is this....

Do you think I'm wrong for wanting my FH to ask my brother to be a groomsman? Do you think it would be a slap in the face to my brother since I am asking FH's sister?

Just my opinion, I think it is really the right thing to do for him to put your bro in. You are putting his sis in and you menioned you guys are not that close. I have 10 bridesmaids and I really did not want that many but I felt it was rigth I included FH's sister (I am not that close to her). To me that was a must even over some other people I might have considered. He put my bro in without a question. But, I have 10 he has 9. I think the relationships matter more than the numbers. Just my thoughts. If it is that impt to you, speak to FH about it again.

I agree, i feel in this instance numbers don't matter... he should def include your brother in the BP!

I am in agreement. As for me..my Fh's bro is best man and mine is a groomsmen. He has a sister but doesnt like her very much so I got out of that! LOL

I wouldn't worry about an uneven bridal party. We're having 6 GMs and 5 BMs.

He should have your brother. If not then you should not have his sister.

I think he should ask your brother. It is the right thing to do. An uneven BP isn't all that bad. I had a MOH, 1 BM & 2JBM. DH had my Bro his Bro and 2 friends. If being uneven is the issue, I wouldn't sweat it!! You can always have 2GM walk with 1BM.

we are having 7 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen. I don't think the numbers matter at all. Having the people you care about is what matters the most

i wouldn't worry about numbers... I have his sisters in mine and my brother is in his. We have 5 guys and 4 girls- but I'm not worried about it!

FH should definitely ask your brother. And if it ends up an uneven number BP, don't worry, it's not a big deal. Actually I think it's cute when a guy gets to walk with two girls or vise versa. The important thing is your brother should be in the BP, especially if his sister is going to be.

I do think it would kind of wrong to have FH's sister, but not your brother...so you're def. not wrong for wanting that.

what's more important...even numbers? or having your brother be part of your day?... you really can't ask your fiance to not have someone he wants to be there, and in the long run is having even numbers really that big of a deal?

IMHO I dont think its 'wrong' for him not to ask your brother.
To DH and I when it came down to who was in the BP the GMs were his choice and the BMs were my choice. I wanted my friends to stand with me as well as that is what he wanted for himself. I didnt ask his sister to be in the BP.

To me-feeling like you 'have' to cut out someone you grew up with and have known for years to add a family member isnt fair. Maybe he isnt as close with your brother as he is with the guys he is having in the BP.

I guess to each his own-why not have your brother stand with your girls and make him a bridesman if it means that much to you? Or just have uneven numbers-I did and it worked out fine

I asked my FH to put my bro in, because I felt like it was the right thing to do. He is family and should be included. I have 4 girls & 5 guys, I think it looks cute to have 2 guys walk a girl down or vice versa, so make it uneven.

Thanks for your input ladies. I guess you are right...in the grand scheme of things...uneven numbers are not important.
And thank you for agreeing with me about having my brother in the wedding party. My FH thinks it is completely weird to ask my brother and me ask his sister. He doesn't seem to understand the significance. :-/
