I dont' know what to do. My fiancee has two sisters who are older. They both have kids and are having the kids in the wedding party. I intially thought that having the kids would be sufficient enough but now I am afraid of offending them. My fiancee doesn't think they would expect to be in it b/c the are older but I don't know if he knows that. I mean family comes first and maybe I should just include them but I dont' want them to feel obligated at all. We were hoping to have a small wedding party so we would alleviate bad feelings to our other friends not included. What do you think? I was maybe thinking of a way to ask his sisters their thoughts without them feeling obligated. ahhh...help.

Re: wedding party......HELP
If you are having a christian ceremony maybe you could have them do a reading at the church. That's how we are including his older sister.

Re: wedding party......HELP
I am going though the same thing with my Fh SIL...but like what was told to me....You put those that are the closest to you in the wedding party...It is your day. You can definitely have them read at the ceremony...scripture or poetry. I'm sure if their children are in the wedding its a huge honor for them anyway... Keep in mind the expense if the whole family is in the wedding...it could get expensive for them.

Re: wedding party......HELP
My SIL's are way older than me, they might even be older than my mom who is 45. So I would not even think they would want to be included, then again they made it clear by not even congratulating us.
I don't think it will be a problem just having their children. Its your day and you must be comfortable with who stands next to you and represent you and not feel as if you chose them b/c you had to
Happy planning

I do not think they will be offended since you are having a small wedding party. I would ask them to do a reading or help with the petal toss. Also I would get each of them a coursage to wear for the day- since they are his sisters. Plus with their children in the wedding they will have lots to do.

Re: wedding party......HELP
I just went to a wedding, where it was only children (and a MOH and Best Man)
the groom had 3 sisters and the bride had 2 brothers, but non were involved...I think it worked well that way, so NO one was offended

Re: wedding party......HELP
I went through exactly the same thing. How I handled it was I asked them about the kids first. Then I told them that we wanted tehm to both be part of the wedding as well. I asked them to be in the party but told them that they shouldn't fell obligated because I know it could get to be too much with the kids in it as well. I said that if they didn't wnat to be bridesmaids we wouldn't be offended and that we'd love them to do readings at the ceremony. They both decided to be in it and were very excited. They have been my most helpful bridesmaid too! It has worked out great. Good luck!
