Hoping someone can help me...can anyone suggest any photography locations in suffolk county (somewhat close to port jefferson-smithtown-kings park-old feild etc) I'd lovvve something similiar to the Vanderbilt Mansions, lighthouses or just something pretty near the water. And def need somewhere I could do indoor and outdoor in case of rain...

Is it for e-pics? I was having the same issue. My photographer suggested martha clara vineyards. I knwo in Mt.Sinai there is a barn in an empty field, makes for some good shots.

Bayard Cutting Arboretum is beautiful- they have the mansion and the grounds (it is in Great River, but right off the Southern State).

We did our engagement pictures at Robert Moses/Field 5 & lighthouse and they came out fantastic.

These both are beautiful.

Northport Harbor is also very nice but you mentioned mansions so I don't think you want Nautical?

If you like Lighthouses, what about Montauk Point if you don't want to go to Robert Moses?

There aren't too many places in Suffolk that have mansion type spots besides the Vanderbilts and Bayard Cutting that was mentioned already. Of course, Oheka Castle (expensive permit required) and not able to book on a weekend.

Have you thought of venturing out to Nassau?

We are doing ours at Bayard. Its all the way on the south shore, so not really close to the area you're looking in, but it is beautiful.

Re: Wedding Photography Locations in Suffolk?

The problem is i'm most likely having a day wedding starting at 12 or 12:30. So by the time I have my hair and make up done Im not sure how much time I have to travel somewhere , then spend an hour taking pictures, then drive to the watermill. I was researching the Old Feild Point lighthouse but not sure if i would be allowed to take pictures there. it is a public park and allows parking for the beach but it is also the police constables home??? wouldnt want to piss him off!! not sure who i even call to inquire about that..
ps thanks so much for all the suggestions!!

Sunken Meadow Park is not too far from Smithtown. You'd have a park with small lakes as well as the LI Sound, sand, and a boardwalk
