Wedding Pictures in the Swimming pool (Trash the Dress!)

Hi Im considering having the bridal party do some pictures in the swimmming pool during the reception (in the dresses!!). How do you think this will go over with the girls and do you think we should keep it as a surprise for funnier pictures?

Thanks!

I don't know how well it will go over. Will it be after the reception is over? I can't imagine it being fun if it was done in the middle of it and they would be wet and gross after they did their hair and makeup all nice.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I would like it as a bridesmaid.

Re: Wedding Pictures in the Swimming pool (Trash the Dress!)

This wedding will be in the summer time and outdoors, so it shouldn't be that uncomfortable. The photographer says we could just walk into the pool (instead of jump) and that way keep our hair and makeup still in tact. She said if you pick the right kind of dress you can still be able to dance. She says once they get in, they just have fun with it and go in and out of the pool during the reception. The key is finding the right dresses that will look great in pictures that you can still moving around in when wet.

i would say wait till the very end if you're going to do this plan. I definitely wouldnt want to keep partying if i was soaking wet... unless of course i was WASTED in which case i'd be a baaaaaaaad bridesmaid lol.

I still wouldn't like it, but that's just me. Getting wet and then staying in it would annoy me. Would they go up their waist and their underwear be wet too? That's really uncomfortable. Even in the summer. Dealing with a wet bathing suit can be annoying, I can only imagine how a wet dress would be at a party.

Re: Wedding Pictures in the Swimming pool (Trash the Dress!)

I wouldn't because it will be uncomfortable for the rest of the reception. I don't even think you will find material that looks good wet, remember majority of bridemaid dress come in satin or chiffon. Neither in my opinion look good wet.
I would also be against it because after spending $300 I would rather the dress hang in my closet than have to throw it straight in the garbage.

What about buying them tanks/tees & cute shorts and having them change into them during the last hour or so of the reception.

This is also a question to ask your bridal party, they might be against doing this.

I wouldn't want to do that during the reception. I'm not a big fan of trash the dress pictures in generally but if you do have them I think it should be on another day.

I think you should discuss this with the women in your bridal party. Some girls may not like spending $200-$300 only to ruin a dress in a swimming pool. It sounds like a fun idea, but def see who's on board and don't keep your plans a secret from the bridal party. You may not like their reactions the day of.

I had a gf do this, but didn't include the bridal party. She did it the day after and her pics came out very unique and beautiful. A word of caution though, the dress can get VERY HEAVY when wet. It may be a safety hazard if your girls or you aren't strong swimmers, and she needed to be helped out the pool.

what if you guys just put your feet in and kick some water up for pics? lol that way nobody gets wet and the dresses, hair, makeup, etc. are still in tact!

I have to be honest I'm not crazy about this idea. I think if its spur of the moment and the girls want to that is a different thing, but if I were a bridesmaid and someone told me I had to get into a pool I'd be peeved.

I think that's the strangest suggestion from a photographer! I wouldn't want to do that if I spent money on the dress.. I agree that most materials probably don't look good wet lol idk get the BMs opinion... I definitely wouldn't leave it for a surprise!

Wedding Pictures in the Swimming pool (Trash the Dress!) - Long Island Weddings

If I was a bridesmaid, and had to pay $150+ for a dress, plus alterations, undergarments to go with the dress, and got my hair and makeup done, and then the bride told me I had to ruin it by getting in a pool during or after the ceremony, I'd remove myself from that wedding party faster than you could say 'bridezilla'.

I'm not trying to be mean, but that is a terrible idea.

This exactly. If the bride was paying for everything... thats fine. I'll jump in whatever liquid she'd want. Because it'd be HER wasted money.. not mine.

On another note, why do you have someone else's engagement photo in your album? I know that girl, and she got married almost a year ago.

if you really want to do something like this maybe you can so it at and engagement party or bridal shower or soemthing like that. As for the wedding though I dont think its a good idea at all, and I dont think the girls will be happy about it.
