Wedding Planner or DOC...so confused

Hi ladies,

I have a little over 8 months left until my wedding...most vendors have been booked except for dj and limos. I have yet to pick out or send out any invites. No engagement pics have yet been scheduled with the photographer. I also haven't even sent my BM's to order their dresses yet.

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine who is getting married about a month after I am. I was telling her all I have to do,not only that, but work is getting a lot busier (I travel quite often for work). She suggested that I consider a wedding planner friend of hers.

I am definitely planning on having a DOC but I never considered a wedding planner. I don't really have it in the wedding budget, but I'm sure I can fit it. Based on your experiences, can you tell me if,at this point, it would be worth getting a wedding planner instead of a DOC? I'm so confuses! Thanks.

DOC=Day of Coordinator? It wouldn't be a bad idea to look into a wedding planner if it is in your budget....especially since you don't have much done and you have a busy work schedule. If it is not in your budget, don't hesitate to ask your BMs for help. Their job is to help you. If you ask each one to do research on a different vendor...that will make your job a lot less stressful. Then, all you have to do is show up to the appts and decide whether or not you want to book them.
As far as the DOC, I personally am not using one...I am pretty organized and calm about things...so I think I can pull the day off without one. If you are the type that gets frazzled and 'fall apart' over minor details, you might want to hire one. Or if you MOH is good with details (like mine is ;) ), then ask her to take care of all of those details the day of.
GL!

I wouldn't get too frazzled just yet... so many of my friends have planned their weddings in even less time than you have (5, 6, 7 months...) and everything turned out just as wonderful as the ones who had over a year to plan. Just take it one step at a time! Now that the holidays are coming to an end, you'll feel like you have a little more time.
