Wedding Planners???

I saw that there was an old post about this but no one ever said if they were actually using one, so i am re-posting.

I am planning my wedding on Long Island but I live in South Jersey so I am just nervous that as my date gets closer there are going to be those mini details that I will not be able to take care of all on my own. I have my mom on Long Island who can help, but I just don't know if having a planner would be better...

Does anyone use one or know of any that are good and not going to wipe my bank account clean. Please let me know your opinions!!! thanks girls!

I was thinking about a Day of too....

What exactly does a Day of do? I mean on the dya of you figure all your planning is done, but i have heard good things about having them. I'm just not sure exactly what services they provide....

Thanks for the help!

I'm using Laura from LA Productions too! I absolutely LOVE her. She is a sweetheart to work with. We are using her for the day of (not for the whole planning process) and for invitations, favors, etc... I know seriously nothing about weddings and what I need to do-she is so helpful. She has great ideas and can help you with everything. HTH!

A 'Day Of' makes sure everything runs smooth for you & basically takes care of all the stupid stuff like final payments to vendors, tips, etc. They also confirm with your vendors a day or two before...and have copies of all your contracts to make sure what you ordered is what you got. Laura also organized & ran our procession...And they take care of things like making sure crazy Aunt Edna doesn't get the mike to make a speach...no one is allowed to make any Dj requests if you don't want, or any other thing you may be worried about on your day..they also help you plan months in advance and help you organize the flow of your day. Laura also created a timeleine of when i needed to start getting ready, when hair & makeup needed to be at my house, what time to start taking pictures, etc...they do alot more than you would think..and for me kept me sane!

Well, she has different packages. Our package with her consists of unlimited emails, calls, etc.. .(which I think most of the DOC's include) and 4 consultation appointments-prior to the wedding day. It also includes the rehearsal dinner and the entire wedding day.

The 4 sessions are used to review things, go over contracts (make sure that you have everything in your contract that you want), share ideas, and to discuss things that FH and I should be doing or have already done. She keeps on top of things to make sure that nothing is missing and everything is just as planned. The last session, she collects copies of everything *(vendor contracts, table arrangements, seating charts, guest list, etc.....)

If you hire her for the package that includes the rehearsal dinner- she will come to your dinner and review everything with your party. She'll practice the walk down the aisle and go over all plans with the group.

The day of the wedding, she has copies of everything. She will make sure that everything is exactly as you want it. And if it's not, she will fix it but will not tell you (until after your honeymoon).

HA HA HA! I completely forgot about that. The crazy relative is the initial reason I even looked into a DOC. Laura is going to keep the mic out of my cousins hand and my aunt away from FH family!!!
