Do you have anyone in your bridal party that has shown their true colors throughout your wedding plans? If so how are you treating the situation? I can't divulge too much info because I think I have some lurkers but I am hurt by some of things one of my BM who has been a friend for many years has done to me, I don't even know if it's worth talking about because ever since I got engaged she has changed 100% I wish I really could say more but I don't want to cause any issues.
Aside from that my true friends have become even truer and I can't imagine not having them around so I'm lucky in that aspect but I just can't help but feel upset about the other side of all this.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I knew that would happen if I put friends so I only put my cousins, its been a lot less stressful for me.

That prob would have been a great idea. I wound up with 10 BM's. I feel like this particular one has been taking everything I say and twisting it wedding related or not. I feel like at the rate its going our friendship is not looking too good post wedding.

Re: Wedding planning and real friends
Yes I have 1 BM that I have known for 25 years (our moms met in mommy and me class) She's been like a second sister to me all my life and ever since I got engaged she has been EXTREMELY opinionated. I think shes jealous that I'm getting married and shes completely single (I'm also 2 years older then her and have been with FH for almost 4 years) She judges everything I do to plan my wedding and its just to the point that I dont talk about my plans with her. If she askes about something I lie and say I havent done that yet or I havent looked into it yet...even though its already booked and done. Its just easier that way I'm not at all one to say something to her about what she does bothering me so I just avoid it at all costs

Sorry you are going through this too. I feel the exact same way. Maybe I should do the same and just lie and not give her any of the details. It's really very furtful I do think it fuels off of jealousy. I really don't think it's worth addressing with this particular person because she will deny it all and tell me that I'm giving her grief and somehow turn me into the bad person. It's just sad the true colors come out at one of the most important times in you life.

Is it just that one girl that you're having a problem with? Maybe she is jealous? I only have a MOH and 1 bridesmaid, I can't imagine what you are going through w/ 10,

Re: Wedding planning and real friends
I totally understand what you mean. I have one BM who changed when I met FH (we met at her bday party) She said something to me once as if she could not believe that I had a Boyfriend before her. I let it pass because we are friends, so when we got engaged, she was happy but not like, 'oh I cant wait to see you, lets go out' NOT A WORD! Anyway FH said that I should not ask her to be a BM, but I felt like we have been friends for so long and we did meet at her bday party. Anyway, needless to say I am regretting my decision, as she doesnt even call me on a regular basis to even see how it is going.

I know 100 percent what you are going through. I struggle with it everyday and for right now my decision is not to do anything. I am going to try and not let it ruin my day. I am not going to now tell people they 'can't' be in my wedding. It is what it is. If I asked you to be in my wedding then you should be there for me, plain and simple. A few have but honestly most haven't. What I have learned from this is that my fiance is truly my best friend. He is always there for me and has never let me down. We have each other, a house, an amazing dog: I realize that this is all I need. Anything else is extra icing on the cake
Try to think this way and stay positive. I know it is hard trust me, I can say I don't let it bother me, but it does eat at me.... I guess its life, people get wrapped up into their own thing. They get jealous when you are happy, they let you down when you need them most

I can't help but think that one of my most likely former BMs is 'dropping out' because I made my sister my MOH instead of her. . .umm, she's my SISTER!!!

Awww...I'm sorry that you are going through this. I have seen many true colors ... not just from BP but also from real close friends. It hurts, but I'm actually thankful. Now I really know who has my back and who doesnt...

Re: Wedding planning and real friends
Yes that totally happens. My MOH has been hot and cold since the beginning of the planning. It's strange and can be hard to deal with. WHen she starts 'acting up' I just let her be. I just try to give her the time she needs to do whatever it is she does when she's alone. My MOH has anger streaks where she can get a little nasty to people. Usually she isn't lashing out at me but other people we are friends with. It's a strange situation. Kinda like a kid having a tantrum. I think it stems from her not saying what is bothering her... instead she keeps it bottled up inside then explodes at strange moments. I don't know if you have the same exact situation... but either way I know it ***** and I feel your pain. You are not alone. Just try to keep the focus on all the good and positive.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. Just think that wedding planning and the stress that goes along with it is temporary, but your life with your FH is FOREVER!!
I opted not to have a bridal party because I couldn't be bothered with the drama.

I think we all probably go through this with at least one but I am beyond hurt by her. From now on I'm just going to spare the details of the wedding with her. I am not going to let her put a damper on everything, she's already done that enough.

Re: Wedding planning and real friends
I have a friend that is in my bridal party she was here for thanksgiving and dicked me over, I wrote about it on here b /c I was so angry. I havent spoke to her since. she already paid for her dress, I sent her an email telling her I was upset. Idonty know if she hasnt read it yet but either way she hasnt contacted me since. Its crazy how certain peopl that you think would be there for you arent, then I have people who arent even in my bridal party and are there for me more.
