Wedding Planning Blitz

Hi everyone! Been away from this posting thing as I`ve been going on a major run to get some wedding stuff done and wanted to pass along some of what I found... We ordered our invites through The Bridal Boutique of Massapequa Park (516) 797-4355. They have lots of veils and favors and more, but we just did invites there. They give 15% off the listed prices, and they have tons of books to look at. If you get your favors there, you get 25% off your invites. I found bells on the internet at an amazing price. Most places sell boxes of 24 for around $7-$8, though I`ve seen it go as high as $13 for the same size (plain) bell and cards. But, I found a place selling them for $4.99!! http://www.wrapwithus.com sells both gold and silver bells in boxes of 24 with verse cards for $4.99. On my search for bargains, I found a cute little card to attach the bells from. These don`t seem very common, because I didn`t find them on many sites, but I thought they were wonderful ... and with the money we saved on the bells, I figured we could splurge on these cards .. since I also found them at a bargain price of 25 cards for $4.85 at http://www.mystore.weddingstar.ca (search the 'catalogue' in the upper right for 'bell shaped' or go to 'favors' then 'favor ideas' where they can be found on the bottom right of the first page. Make sure you choose U.S. currency for pricing, otherwise the price shows somewhere around $7 ... that`s Canadian price!! :) The best pricing on personalized ribbon (double-sided satin) was .25 each on orders over 192, which was about what I needed. Other prices were .28 each for between 72-191 and .35 for 40-71. They also give a choice of 1/4 inch wide or 3/8 inch wide and they come pre-cut!! She didn`t do a complete job of setting my hair just as it would be, but just pinned here and there for a general idea .. which was more than perfect! She also does makeup, but I didn`t have a trail for that yet. I just figured it would probably be good and might schedule one for a later date. She knew exactly what I wanted and what would work with my hair, and when we discussed makeup, she talked of 'natural tones' which is just what I want too! My mom was very excited too and liked what she did and said. Plus, my mom will be going for a facial, a treat from me and my fiance for Mother`s Day. Cactus Salon - (631) 499-7194.

The more little things I find that I need, or that I want to do ... na, actually, this is going to be fun! In all honesty, outside of trying to plan, my jobs are totally driving me crazy. The little free time that I once had doesn't exist anymore! :( But soon it will get better! (I hope)

I actually ordered my headpiece and veil last week from the Bridal Boutique. Great selection! I also got my shoes out there at Sandy's Shoes - really great service there! My hair & makeup trial is set for August 11th at Salon Menage - I have my fingers crossed that it's the only one I'll need! Our invites arrived and they're beautiful - the envelopes and guest list are in the trusting hands of my sister to work her calligraphy magic! My dress came in, too, after only 5 weeks! It's gorgeous! Yippee!! Within the next 3 weeks we're ordering the BM dresses, meeting with the officiants and florists and beginning the tuxedo search...and the fun continues! On a non-wedding related note: we've been doing the weekend open house thing in Massapequa/Bellmore, etc (exhausting) - I think it's not fun since I'm in the business LOL... AND!! I took my last final today and I graduate next Friday!! WOOHOO!!! Even though I need to go to summer school to finish, I feel like it's finally over!!!! Didn't realize this would be so long hee hee - sorry! :)

I have no free time at all anymore either. I think the closer you get to your wedding the less time you have. I'm going crazy but trying to get things done! I never catch anyone in chat anymore!!

Hi Kel, I booked Kristen at Cactus too! Isn't she great??? I'm glad to hear you got so much done... don't you feel accomplished? I know I do whenever I get a big chunk done!

Kathi, I`m gald to hear everything`s going so smoothly. That`s great you got your dress so quickly .. I`m still waiting on mine :( and I ordered it in early December!! But, the girls` dresses are in! :) Congrats with school and graduation! And hang in there with the house hunt. Trust me, this wedding thing is much more fun than the house purchasing process. The hunt is kinda fun, but the legalities and such are a real drag! Nicole M., I know exactly how you feel. I haven`t had much time to check in for a chat in recent weeks because of work. In the past few weeks, I think I checked in briefly only a couple of times. Hope all your planning is moving along. I can`t believe how quickly our dates are coming ... and you're just around the corner now! :) JennRenee, it did feel good to get all that stuff ordered, especially since I just kept going back and looking at it, and searching to see if there were better deals. Now I can stop the search on all of it. But I still feel like there is a lot left to do. My fiance asked me the other day, 'when are we going to be done with all this planning stuff?' and I told him not until we walk down the aisle. :) Of course then we have all those thank yous that will need to go out! Are you using Kristen for your makeup too? or just hair?

I'm using Kristen for my hair only. I have unusually sensitive skin, so I'm having my makeup done by a Clinique makeup artist, which is the makeup I normally wear, so I know I won't have a bad reaction. I went for a makeup trial at a different salon, where they swore the makeup was dermatologist tested and 100% hypoallergenic, but I broke out like crazy anyway. I don't want to take any more chances! : )
