What online tools are the best for wedding planning? I've heard The Knot is pretty good as is Wedding Wire. Anyone have any suggestions and reasoning for the wedding planning software they chose?

I chose the Wedding Wire because I loved there wedding web site and they have the best budgeting tool that I've seen.

How is the wedding wire's budgeting tool different? I liked the knot because of their budget tool but I didn't know other sites had them, too - you can tell I'm a total newbie

I felt like the knot budget wasn't realistic to a long isalnd wedding. In fact before I started on these boards I got a false sense of prices from the knot. I'm using the knot for my guest list (since I started it there before I looked into wedding wire) but my budget I use wedding wire. I like that you can put in all your deposits and when you're next payments are due. We also used them for our wedding website (just because it was very easy to add music)

Oh, okay. I started using it for my guest list, too, actually, but it started to feel like a hassle. The main thing I needed the Knot's assistance with was actually seeing the breakdown of all the little things - I would've overlooked factoring in stuff like groom's shoes and bridal undergarments, etc

Great information....I looked at magazines and the wedding planning book so far and the amount they say things cost is much less than a Long Island wedding. I will look at wedding wire...Thanks!

i was using the knot too; but then i discovered wedding wire's budget tool. its so much better than the knots. i was using their guestlist and checklist tools as well - but since i have both my budget and website on weddingwire, i may just use everything there as i get closer to the event.
the knot kinda stinks haha

When I first look at the budget for the knot I was like oh this is great I could probably go way under budget. Then I went to look at RH and it was like ten times what the knot had said they would be. There went my budget
