did anyone start procrastinating more as it got closer to their wedding?
ive been waiting for this wedding since we got engaged last july - but the closer it gets the more and more i am putting off wedding things
and its not that i think i have tons of time, i know i only have 2 months but for some reason im like whatever about everything......
my FH thinks that i am subconsciously procrastinating on purpose so that i will not stress out and worry since its getting so close - i think he might be right
oh well

I feel like I procrastinated but I also felt like, the closer I got, there was nothing to DO!! I kept trying to find things to do but there really was nothing!

DO WHATEVER YOU CAN NOW!!!!!!!!!!
I thought the same thing, 'i have all this time, blah, blah, blah,' but all of your vendors FORCE you to leave everything to the last month and in that month i hardly had any time to finish my DIY's, and anything non-vendor related. Your seating chart will take up a lot of time and that is something you have to leave until the last minute...
do whatever you can now!!!

Re: Wedding Procrastinating?
i actually prob. did nothing wedding related since after July.
Now Im starting to feel like I need to light the fire under my arse and get moving. I say that but then I haven't done some stuff I should just get out of the way...i think my check list is the same as it was the lst few months.
You're sooo not alone.

i also procrastinated the closer it got to the wedding. I also felt like whatever about many things at that point. It was like ok i have all my major vendors i am so tired of planning after 2 years and i dont care to do more
of course with 2 weeks left i realized how much i had left and at that point i went into MAJOR planning mode and drove myself nuts

Re: Wedding Procrastinating?
I was totally guilty of leaving everything for the last minute. I don't know what happened, but I was in a slump and the last thing I wanted to do was anything wedding related.
Then I had a very bad wake-up call when it was 1 week till the wedding, and the to do list was huge. Then of course, you need to it because it is crunch time, but that was very stressful and overwhelming. Plus it doesn't help that work gets crazy too!
I suggest to do as much as you can do now, because the days really do fly by.

i'm there right now. With 12 weeks to go, i keep trying to think of what else needs to be done. Doesn't seem like much, honestly. Just paying for everything, and a couple DIY projects (which i need to wait for - since Christmas stuff isn't really out yet). I hope i'm not forgetting anything

i agree, get as much done now. Whenever i think of my last 2 weeks, especially the last week, i have horrible memories hahaha. It was just overwhelming and i was basically running around like a maniac. I would get up in the morning and leave my house around 9-10am and wouldn't get home until late at night. THings happen unfortunately that can delay you and i had quite of few of those circumstances. Even my RD i just think of all i went through right before it. I had to drive from queens to commack not once but TWICE that day bc of a mistake. Then i had to come home and wrap all my favors in an hour and a half, i looked at the time and was like F*CK i need to get dressed, did it in such a hurry that i ran out of the house and forgot my marriage license, although i thought it was wedding day i would need it. My mom and her best friend had to drive home to get the license for me. The day before was also horrible, i even got to the hall at 10pm the night before to finish dropping everything off, i was out from the morning in horrible weather and traffic was a nightmare. Had to get home finish things then run to JT. I didnt get to do mani and pedi until after 11pm. Got to bed real late. IT was HORRIBLE hahahaha i didnt get to have a nice relaxing day the day before, which would've been nice. If there was one thing i could change, it would be that i had less things to do right before

Sadly I waited 3 weeks before finals (didn't want wedding thoughts to interfere with school). But I agree, do what you can now! The seating chart was tough...lol My DH tried to do it for about 2 hrs and he couldn't figure where to put his friends. So yes do all you can!!!

Re: Wedding Procrastinating?
well i tried to think of all the things we'll have to do before the wedding:
i want to see sample centerpiece
i want to do another hair trial (since i cut my hair and im getting my headpiece hopefully today)
i want to do another make up trial close to the wedding
i need to book limos and a shuttle but before we do that we have to figure out our timeline b/c depending on what we do it will change how many limo's we need
i need to get my veil
FH has to start looking for a tux and he'll probably want me to come
we have to do the bridal party gifts
we have to figure out what we are doing for favors
i have to mail the invites
i have to send back the draft of our ceremony and pick readings
i have to pick ceremony music for the string trio
i have my 2nd fitting in 2 weeks
we have to pick up our weddings bands
we have to get a marriage license
thats not including the RH stuff we have to do! we have to have our meetings with JT, seating chart/place cards
i have to do table #'s
decide if we are doing menus or a program (probably neither at this point!)
there is so much to do and im in la-la land what is wrong with me!! i dont know where to start and i just dont feel like doing any of it

denise i think im going to be just like you, i remember your posts about finding a veil, figuring out favors
why am i like this?!?!? the whole time i thought that when it got close i would become crazy with the wedding (b/c i really havent been crazy with the wedding AT ALL since we got engaged) and im not, im even less motivated than i was before! i just need to tell myself that i have to do these things! tomorrow it should be quiet at work, maybe ill look at the calendar and try to make appointments for hair/make up/florist

well i would do limo's now, you want to make sure they still have the limo you would want available.
just make a list of things to do each week from now until the wedding. Especially if you are going to have other appointments such as hair and make up. Plus you still need veil and have to go for tuxes. Plus other appts such as sample CP, getting marriage license, getting wedding bands. And you'll have to make time for shopping for bp gifts and favors. The way i thought of it was by weekends since thats when we had the time to do most things. So when i was 2 months away, i said ok so i have 8 weekends to finishing everything, well more like 7 lol. Also dont forget that you will have final appts for other vendors too

Re: Wedding Procrastinating?
the last month or 2 before the wedding I was in severe procrastination mode. It was bad. Eventually everything got done though. You can't be in wedding mode 24/7! You'll go nuts
